Looking For Riding Areas and Meet Fellow Riders

I am new to Colorado Springs and I am looking for Riding areas and to meet some fellow riders.
I moved here from ND this summer and now that I don't have to drive 12 hours to get to the mountain riding I just need to know where to go and find someone to ride with.

I would appreciate any contacts or area recommendations!!:israel:

I'm new to sledding, but not the mountains. Will be sledding mostly south Colorado, so Cottonwood and Crested Butte, or even further south. I'll ride with you.

I-70 is always a mess, but sounds like it will be even worse in Dec and Jan, as they'll be working on the little tunnels then.

So look at Cottonwood and Salida area, or getting to the I-70 stuff by going through Fairplay.

Sounds like a plan. Some other folks mentioned those areas and Crested Butte, Gunnison as well.
I will get you my contact info. and wait for my new sled and snow LOL

You can join the colorado snowmobile group they do a lot of organized rides. They are a good bunch of guys and it's free. There are a ton of clubs. Hit me up and I can show you around.

I am in C/S and ride all over the state, Rabbit Ears, Grand Mesa, and Wolf Creek are top favs. A good place to meet fellow riders is the snow show in Oct (11-12th).

We are a nice enough bunch of slednecks here in CO. I've never had any problems meeting people to ride with. I live north of you in Denver, so I deal with the I-70 **** show every ride (unless we hit the snowies in WY). If you get up early enough the traffic doesn't even exist.

I prefer to ride Rabbit Ears / Buff Pass, Spring Creek, and any other areas to the north. There are a ton of spots to ride. Since you are in the Springs, you should definitely check out Wolf Creek, CB, Cottonwood, etc. Lots of awesome riding down there, and occasionally (knock on wood) the south gets hammered with December snow.

Colorado Rides

We have a local snowmobile club, Pikes Peak Highriders. We meet once a month starting in Oct. We plan rides every two weeks thru the season. If you like to explore new areas with someone who knows where they are going please look us up. We meet at the Mason Jar in Old CO City west side of town. Should be the second Tuesday at 6:30.

I live in the Springs. I used to ride with my brother, but he moved back to Alaska. I usually hit Rabbit Ears or areas near Crested Butte. Sometimes head out to Mesa, but it's quite a drive.
Working on stretching my HCR out to 162" with a Camo X3 for this season. I'm almost ready to go, just waiting on snow. I've never had an issue finding guys to ride with. I usually just dig up some riding pals in the parking lots up there.
I'm 35, originally from AK, not Chris Burandt, but I can keep up. I load my sled in the back of my truck. Have an enclosed trailer, but it won't fit two sleds. Could get one in the bed and another in the trailer, though. I typically ride hills and start banging through trees and see how lost I can get. I have an extra avalanche beacon for use.

If anyone wants to head up, shoot me a message 719.232.1487

We would be more than happy to take you in.

Our group is designed to help people find people to ride with and catch word of avalanche training. We're at a point where it's known that you aren't invited unless you're educated and equipped.

We can be found up every weekend and we have weekday riders as well. Also we have members all over the state so generally it's not difficult finding someone to ride with between this page and the group!

Make sure to friend request Mike Duffy with Avalance1, Mountain Skillz, and Tyler's backcountry awareness.

Ya, I try to avoid I70 as much as possible, there's nothing worse than sitting in stopped traffic for 6 hours, it really puts a damper on your day...
