looking for performance help

i have a 2000 rmk 800. non ves motor, and i am wanting to start adding mods to it, what is the best place to start? i already have an SLp single can on it and looking at a team secondary. also just put a 151" track on it, so what else can i do to start slow? thanks

I have a team secondary if you want to buy, Let me know I can have it in the mail tomorrow. It cam of a 2001 800.

I put a boss high rise seat on mine with a 6 inch handle bar riser, but I am also 6'5'' so height was good. VForce reeds help, and gut the air box.

now that i remember the air box is gutted, just straight.

I would lighten up the chassis as much as possible. Trailing arms, boss seat hood ect. Gear it down to around 2.10 - 2.20 ratio. Then dial in your clutching for where you ride. Polaris button clutches work very well and are very user friendly and tunable. A good place to start would be by freshing up your clutches.

Is it a tss04 or tss98? New they cost $220-$250 without springs or a helix. Used fair price for tss04 $150 or $120 for tss98 IMO.

Team clutch (either one) would be a nice improvement. SLP porting, airbox kit, flo-rite air filters in the dash, handle bars riser and a bit of a gear down would make it a beast. SLP powder pro skiis are nice too. Then there is always the twin pipe setup from SLP.

The primary clutch, stock steering post, seat, trailing arms, xlite rear skid and hood are just fine. Porting the track is a waste of time. Fox shocks are nice if it currently has the ol nitrex shocks. Check the hifax. Install the ice scratchers. The skid plate is a good idea. The aftermarket belts are just fine. The nitrous is a waste of time. Rolled chain case is a waste of time. Avoid turning it into alphabet soup with 25 different parts from 25 different speed shops.

how old are you and what is your location?

great sled. Get yourself the Shop Manual and the Parts Manual and some basic clutch tools. With the books from Olav Aaen learn some basic priniciples of clutching and carbs and you are headed for serious fun. Keep her clean and greased and and in proper adjustment and that thing will run forever!

ok thats great help, not sure what a sled lift on wheels means lol. anyways i just currently installed v-force reeds form a 99 700 and my 800 just didnt perform well at all, reallt doggie off the line, and quite honestly the stock reeds performed better, idk, maybe its cause the reeds were a little old? it fluxuated in idleing and all kinds off mess. my top end was a lil better but i still think my stock reeds are better. thanks for the help..+

one other thing for anyone, what do the numbers on the front of my secondary mean? it has a number 1 to 5. its a stock clutch, and its on the side where it bolts on? i was thinking it had to do with the helix? but i am just learning? can someone tell me what those mean and what the numbers do when adjusted with that little gold plate thing? i hope that made sense to someone lol

The numbers/gold plate are how you adjust the belt height. You can move the plate and the secondary will either pinch tighter or widen up to allow the belt to move up or down
