Looking at Buying a 2008 M8

Looking at buying one. Any quirks I should look for with this particular sled. Other than the obvious (compression, clutching, straight frame, etc.). This is my first M series sled so any suggestions?

I think the 08's had an ECu upgrade of some sort ( I think dont quote me on it). I got a buddy with an 08 m8 153 and it tears. Have you thought about looking into an 09 m8 tho? They did alot of updates in 09

that sled suggestions eh, well first off id get the HD skid plate to protect the diamond drive hit between the ski and track theres a spot you can bend stuff up pretty good. this skid plate also seals the bottom of you clutch up a little better theres a removable peice that goes under your secondary that if his will allow snow to come in and slip your clutch, the HD skid plate covers this area for you also.

get the frogskins for the nose cone and be careful opening the cowling in wet/freezing temperatures with overflow or anykinda overnight staying somewhere, where the sled doesnt get to thaw. the nose cone fills up with slush/snow and freezes which will crack the cowling if you try an open it with it like this... frogskins in the front nose are definatly key to preventing this.

for the price i would put the two wheel kit on (like 25 bucks) incluldes an axel and eliminates two of your rear boggies. this lets your track lay over and when you lay it on its side it will grab a lot more rather then just spin out.

if your any kind of rallier and forsee yourself rolling your sled i would suggest extra hood straps so your cowling doesnt come open unintentionaly they are really strong cowlings for rolling over as long as they stay shut.

the belt sheive clearence and belt deflection are key on making sure the reverse servo works freely and smoothly without issue. if you have a clunk on engagment belt sheeve clearence is off, if your diamond drive starts in reverse or doesnt engage into reverse all the way more the time belt deflection is the issue.

ill more then likely come up with a couple more things as i think about it!

honestly i would try an get into an 09 just for the sake of the motor turns over backwords for revers elminitating a lot of diamond drive issues, the powerclaw track, stock with the two wheel kit. for the price difference its definatly worth it! dont get me wrong i had a absolute blast on my 08 m8 sno pro, but i upgraded to the power claw, upgraded to the two wheel kit, and put the frogskins on which all came stock on the 2009-10 in order to make this sled reallly perform!
