Long rod motor

After running my long rod on a turbo all year, I sold it to a local guy and he called Dan to see if there is anything he should check on the motor. Dan asked him to take the engine out and send it to him for full rebuild and update and extended the warranty FOR FREE. The guy who bought my sled has done no business with dan and dan covered all the cost. That's great for someone who has never spent a dime with him.

These forums become very one sided and I would love to hear what dan has to say about his engines that went down. He is a stand up guy and I'm sure he makes it right. One bad experience can certainly put a bad taste in your mouth but if that's the case we would be swapping poo engines with cat engines.:face-icon-small-win

I will be using Dan again for sure on all my rebuilds or complete engines.

edavis0202- Funny you would say this:

Next time mine pops I will be installing a cat or rt 1000. I really would like to BB one of these to a 1200/1100 with twins. Seems like one of the only options to make big 2 stroke natty aspirated HP and have it last. Hate to jump ships engine wise but it'll probably happen instead of going back to an old 800 big block based engine.

He replaced both my motors very quickly he does have good service and assured me he knew the problem and this new motor will be good just run 2 tanks of break in gas and take it easy but I was afraid to ride it so I bought a new sled so I now have a brand new motor that has never been road and it's for sale the first motor left me way in the back country and was a pita to get out

What is Dan doing on the rebuild, checking and opening up port dimensions?

I know he doesn't want customers opening up the motor themselves after a failure, but what is he doing differently than before?

Dan, from what I understand, does no porting.

Visually from the two I have in the shop right now; they have different rods. The newer build has a different brand of rod that has been ground instead of machined on the lower bearing. Guessing the new design allows more oil into the lower rod bearing as well. For what it is worth.

When my rod bearing seized up, many chimed in with the same problem. He told me that there was a bearing issue. I do recall the new rods looking different than the old ones too.
