Logged out when searching

Logged out when searching. Every-time I search, it logs me out and I have to log back in when viewing threads from search results. I am using firefox and my ipad both do this. I have clicked remember me. Please help?

It always happens to me too. I've just always dealt with it, even though it's annoying.

There are TWO very different search systems here in the forums.
There is the common search that you see over on the right corner of the screen just below the "Welcome" notice.
That takes you OUT of the Forums and to a page that Harris Publishing created and uses the GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE.

Then there is the ADVANCED SEARCH which is a Premium Member feature.
That appears on the black menu bar as "Search".
That uses our code written to search inside of the forums.
It is a vastly superior search engine and restricts the search ONLY to the SnoWest Forums, and not to the whole internet.

Yea, but is there a way to set things so you don't get logged out either way. Sometimes I prefer to search using "common" search over the other?

When you are getting logged out on a search or while posting it is generally a "local" issue. Meaning a setting with YOUR computer or browser.

I recommend FireFox for a browser but on any of them go into your setting and go into the security settings. Change it to the medium setting. If it is on the high security setting the browser will automatically delete cookies or not even accept them. This will make it so you get logged out all the time.

Firefox (MAC) instructions:
FireFox > Preferences >


Firefox (PC):
Tools> Options > Privacy >
Select Firefox will: remember history" (you can use a custom field as well and if you do make sure you have the following selected:
"accept cookies from sites"
Accept 3rd party cookies (keep until they expire)

"Remember browsing history for 30 days"



Now go to the Security tab:
I recommend the following be checked but they are not all required for snowest:
-Warn me when sites try to install add-ons
-Block reported attack sites
-block reported web forgeries

Go to the Advanced settings tab:
Go to Encryption:
Select the "use ssl 3.0" box

If you check those settings it should work fine without having to log back in.

I don't have an iPad but I have an iPhone and I use the TapaTalk app and it works great.

Getting logged out everytime is a pain, but how come when I do the same search in either i have more threads from the search box under my name, if I click on the search bar it does not bring up as much, these are all snowest threads so I don't know why that is, anyone else have the same issue??

There are two totally separate search engines on SnoWest.
As a premium member you ONLY want to be using the ADVANCED search engine!!

Go to the black menu bar
Click on SEARCH
Then click on the blue link for ADVANCED SEARCH.

you will be much happier.
