locked up pro 800

Was riding with a friend Saturday on his 2012 800 pro.
1000 miles and the engine just locked up.
Had to tow it out 10 mile but it could of been worse.
Has anyone else seen this happen?
Had another friend break a crank on 2013 800 with 3000 miles.

If his 2012 is out of warranty, I'm interested in buying it as is, with the locked up motor.

Get ready for your $hit storm, but yes my 2012 blew at 650 miles and 1100 miles with a 2013 motor. Guy I sold it to has 400 trouble free miles on the third motor. Some go some dont. Riding style, heat, and elevation promote more failures from what I see around here. Mostly piston skirts.
