local yokels making moves

Hate to bring it up but I try to learn all I can, what was up with the slide? Wind loaeded? Heavy layer on weak layer? Extreme risk day?
Vids are sick, and I am glad that you included that unfortunate event, all to often do we watch videos and get pumped up forgetting the risks we take! Thank God that was it, hope his recovery went well!!

I think the UAC went out and did a full write up...see if I can find the link.

He had previously climbed the hill to just short of the fallen aspen ON his second attempt he made it just over the fallen tree and stuck it... triggering the slide. It was about 150 feet across and had about a 3 foot crown. It broke in two sections. It is alot steeper than it appears in the video. When Adam hikes up to help Tim you get an idea for how steep it is....then he hangs his pack on the tree and you can really tell.

Weak layer hit by a stuck sled at a trigger point....perfect avy conditions.

scary stuff that. it seems so "benign", not that huge roaring wall of snow you think when you think avy. if he got pulled through in a slightly different body position it could have been a spine or neck......paralysis or death. not to be dramatic, just realistic. glad he was "ok". i am still slowly healing from degloving my quad. still a big dent and no feeling in half of it. just doing 20mph and snagging a fence post under the snow about 1/4 mile from MC lot after an all day 3+ pow day. thought i had torn my MCL, but it was my aductor and all the nerves from mid quad to knee. we get lucky more times than not.
i'm not as bendy anymore :face-icon-small-sho
