In our riding group we have a rule - "Spouses never help each other get unstuck". Have one of your patient riding buddies work with her the next time you go riding - works for us.

That isn't a bad idea. People always seem to be more patient and noncritical when they arent dealing with their family. They also seem to be more receptive to suggestions from non family members.

I think it is because we expect more form our own family members than anyone else does. And when they can't ride like we think they should we get cranky!

I have found that the louder you yell the easier it is for her to hear. I also have had real good success with cynical comments, swearing at her, and telling her how I would have done it.

been there, done that.... doesn't go over well:face-icon-small-sho LOL

For $100 I will take your gal up into the mountains, way back in there where we won't be seen by anyone else, and teach her some of my riding skillz;)

i've seen your skillz.... burried deep pointed downhill :boxing:she wants to know if you would wear your NMFH??:face-icon-small-blu

She'd die laughing.

LMAO. Didn't work so well last time we rode with ya. If she woulda had a gun that day, you wouldn't have been seen ever again. Who would have ever thought such dirty words could come from such a pretty face. :boxing:

I had a long talk with her after that. I told her if she wanted to unleash words like that at night when we were in bed I was totally down with it.

It is hard to try and help your wife. They want to keep up with the group and don't want to be stuck all day but they cant really ask for help because most of the time you are moving. By the time they can ask for help they have been drug into places they are uncomfortable riding in and are already frustrated. It wouldn't matter if you showed up with hot coffee and warm cookies, she would still be mad. In reality, most of our wives only ride part time and don't really have enough time to hone their skills and we expect them to do things that are over there heads. There have been a few times I have seen my wife go somewhere I thought she wouldn't even consider and was pleasantly surprised.

You know, a divorce attorney could make a pretty good living riding snowmobiles with married couples as long as he could perform on the spot services.

she said that would be great. she did say she was worried she would have to drop off a 100ft cornice:face-icon-small-con

Abby will start her out at 60 feet max. We go easy on people at first:face-icon-small-win

From basic sidehilling, to possibly getting her into jumping, I'm sure Abby would be a big help (and aside from me volunteering her, she said she'd be happy to have another "non-sausage" rider along :D) and also be fun to ride with.

I don't think we're going to try to film again this year, so we should have way more spare time than years past & a much more laid back season.

Amber Holt's Backcountry Basics riding clinics are coming to the Snowy Range in Wyoming January 27, 28, 29. Will be based out of Saratoga.

It's a combined class with Avalanche1 and Vertical Pursuits. Riding clinic, avalanche class and guided backcountry tour to practice skills. It's going to be a fun weekend.

Details will be available at the Denver Snowmobile Show. Amber will be at the Arctic Cat booth, Vertical Pursuits will also have a booth. I'll be teaching avalanche classes at the show.

Tony,
I would have her ride with Abby for sure. Would be a good fit. My girlfriend is going to learn to ride this year as well as long as Ryan does scare her off with wearing just his modular. We would be down to go u p and ride anytime.
