Local Cat dealer "DON'T turbo the 2010 Cats. They won't survive"

I know.......that u had better think about crossin ovr to the Dark side. LOL!
them thar d8's are dawgs Scott!:face-icon-small-ton

I think the concern has been more with the higher stock compression of the 2010 than with the new lighter crank.

Probably the real reason there saying this is to pump up sales on all the carry overs they have.

the cranks aren't weakend by the weight being removed from the counter weights on the crank. speedwerx and other have offered this light weight crank option for years. the only problem that might come up with the lighter cranks is that they don't have the mass to absorb any running problems from using a turbo with crappy fuel quality or supply. this is still doubtfull though.

FYI, Burandt and Rassmussan are already riding 2010 m-8's turbo's. Brett has his 09 sold. He did say that his 09 BD PG m-8 was his funnest sled he's ever owned. I thought it was a blast myself, but the 2010 has better all around power and quicker throttle response.

I have talked to a few that have had saddle time on the new m-8's.. I got about an hour on one..... the lighter crank makes for snappier throttle response... but ...

Less mass in the crank increases vibration. I noticed more vibes... but not where it made it uncomfortable.

The real test of this machine will be when they go into full production and those out there that could break an anvil have a crack at them...

From what I can tell... the stock m-8's and the turbo renditions will be hard to match.

Looks like Indy Dan might have some more business next year from the newer cat owners ;)
