Loading the 1 ski

It's a noob question, but how are you guys loading your snowbikes if you don't have a bank or buddies to help? I've tried converting the sled ramp and it's still a work in progress. Putting plastic down so the ski can slide, yet leave enuf gaps so the track can grip. Haven't found the right setup yet. Talk to dealer, he said buy the wheel kit. $450?? REALLY?:face-icon-small-sho There has Got to be a better Cheaper way!

I use 2 methods;

1 is a ramp with glides that works just ok

2 is my bike lift table that I take to the back of the truck and just drive on (while beside it)

For unloading we use nothing, just pull the bike off the truck.

If you want I have a set of wheels I will sell you for 1/2 of that price.

try strapping the front ski up wards to the bars with a tie down so when u go up the sled ramp the metal in the ski doesn't catch , I have not tried it yet but seems like a good idea

Traditional/oldschool 2"x10"/12"x6' lumber a steel not aluminum angled lip and some sort of stay under lip so ramp can't move. Aluminum ladder styles just have to many gaps and plastic or bed liner material make them dangerous to you and too slick for the track to have friction when wet. Grind lip edge to taper on wood end, countersink flat head bolts, and fasten through with washer and nylock nuts. Wax or oil wood so as your carbides break in they will glide in grooves they created earlier. Once ski has crested unless you push on you have great leverage with your hands on the out side track lugs, roll track, reverse this for unload. This works with a gassed 460lb 800HO Snow Hawks into a van, truck, or open place sled trailer. With the 28' enclosed I did it like the Hof!

1 ski rodeo

check back a month or so on posts, some pictures of modified ramps. etc. on a thread about ramps on here.

I load mine in pickup with ramp I built with walkway alongside plastic guides for the ski. I can load and unload anywhere by myself. No wheels........tried them and have a set.

A lot of the younger guys pickup up the mh and put them up in their way tooo high off the ground pickups and drag them out of the bed, no ramp. If I was still 50 or 40 or 19 I might try that, not in the cards for me.

started to make my setup at my welding shop, then decided to make mock it up and try it out of wood, glad I did, had to make some mods, but works good now, will make a steel one when I have some downtime.

easy

just get an aluminum bifold ramp and get the plastic sliders that screw on the rungs like sled guys use, then you can just ride it into the back of your truck - easy peasy. western power has the ramp and plastic rung sliders.

Grab the spindle and lift it in, then slide it forward until the bike frame is almost touching the tailgate. Then lift the back in, I lift from the track, not the bumper. It's simple once you get it down. Almost quicker to do it by yourself than with help. And I'm by no means a strong guy.

Just drive it in off a bank, hope for the best

I have been using a Harbor Freight tri-fold ramp and a Sure Grip dolly to load my bike. I like leeee's idea of adding Grip Glides though. I might have to give that a try.

Edit: This is for loading in a pickup not a trailer. For a trailer just toss it on there.

I use my ghetto ramp!

Bi-fold aluminum ramp with a scrap piece of particle board on the right side with a 6ft strip of plastic ski glide screwed to it. I fire the bike and walk up the left side while the bike runs up the right side. Works perfect every time.

For unloading, just drop it out of the back. Like that drop is really going to hurt it compared to the way we ride them on the MX tracks in the summer! :face-icon-small-dis

Why are you here?
