loading snowbike in pickup

How do you guys load these in pickups?
I have a folding aluminum ramp for my sled that has 8" wide plastic for the skis.
I want it to be a dual purpose ramp.

I just tied tiedowns from the bars to the foot pegs(to keep the bars straight) and lifted the bike in/out.

loading.

dirtbike ramp w/ carpet on it. only takes one person. works great. you can walk it right on up w/ a step stool or something similar unless you have really long legs or just ride it up.

I don't use a ramp as the explorer ski doesn't slide on anything but snow. I back up to a tall snowbank and drag out and ride in. Luckily I have a plastic box liner which when frozen and covered in snow will allow the thing to slide.

A snow bank works well if you have them around. My problem is that I live 30 min. from the beach and 1 1/2 hours from the snow. Some days sand, some days snow. Pretty sweet. Temp swings roughly 20-30 degrees in either direction you choose to go for the day. I have carbide on my ski and doesn't have any problem w/ carpet. Onward and up!

Same ski.

Eventually your carbides will wear down and then you can use a lumber bike ramp like I do for the Hawks, lots of grooves never a mishap.:)

How to Carry a Snowbike 101: Entry Level Course

Hey Guys,

Just thought I would share with you how I get around. Here the laundry list of parts:

  • dirt bike carrier (1)
  • aluminum ATV ramp (1)
  • easy glide (2)
  • aluminum folding dirt bike ramp (1)
  • diamond plating (3)

Yeah I'm into it about $500, but I can mount and dismount from either side and it takes me about 3 minutes to load up anywhere!

Nice lash-up you got there.
Just don't cut any corners.
I considered do the same thing using my receiver hitch.
What is the total length of your bike?
Hope "The Man" doesn't give you flack for being to wide.
Looks good though.

Oops, don't try to ride your explorer equipped bike out of the trailer with a steel ramp at a 35 degree angle. The runners dig through the ice and into the pavement beneith causing you to fly over the bars and almost wrecking your front end again. This also holds true riding over a snowbank and onto a road. You have to do it on an angle or the over aggressive runners will end your day. Up to just over 2 hours of ride time and only about 6 weeks in awaiting parts orders and healing injuries. I think I'll buy the wheel kit. The kit seems to be designed to require it, they just don't tell you until after you buy it. Am I wandering off the topic?
