Live, on Rabbit Ear's Pass

Probably the best weather/snow conditions all year!! The Gillette boy's timing could not have been better, we had a great day yesterday, 70 plus miles and we all came back on fumes except one he ran out 1/4 mile from the parking lot... They'll be back, some of the best conditions they have ridden... Needless to say we were all pretty sore puppies after yesterday, as I'm sure most were....

Yeah, we couldn't have timed it any better!!! It seems everytime I show up to ride with Greg were in white out conditions...... Thanks for taking us around guys, we will probably be back next year.. Jim, I will have to catch up with you next year, sorry I missed ya.. We had a ball!!!!

When did you head up Bushmaster? Met a camper when we were coming down on Thursday. Rode up there, Flats, Spring Creek, and Buff (going in at Grizzly) Buff was great the last couple days and found some great areas off of 1F farther north. Did have some vis issues at Buff earlier in the week and ended up coming down 1A and making a nice little loop back to Griz on the F:D

Had a good ride, glad Dogmeat had an extra sled with ski's for Mule. That
side hill out could have sucked!

Paul, we took the same route as last year at the spring fling. We dropped of that steep motha of a hill into that drainage and took a rest right at the "No Snowmobile" sign. We then came up into that untouched, huge meadow all the way to the top. I was thinking of dropping off into Long Lake up until the
ski incident with Mule's sled. Good thing we didn't, we backtracked down to
the trail by way of that intermediate trail that connects. We dropped into Long Lake, looked back to the area I wanted to come down in and noticed
how nasty and steep that area is (close to the ski resort). Real fun area to ride... unless you like to climb alot. By the time we got to /Boulder drop, Fish Creek drainage, you guy's had it already beat up.

Mark, you should make an extra trip or two down here. Sorry we missed you, we had to haul, Rkymtnman had some enguagments in town early.

Need pics and description of "incident" please. :face-icon-small-hap

Hope you and your sled are ok.

I'm fine... helmet & tekvest = :D

Not really sure what happened... carving around in the middle of this meadow and the next thing I know i'm doing cartwheels... there were tracks in the snow from my sled, then the tracks stopped, and my sled sat facing the tracks about 10ft from where they stopped. I landed about 15-20ft from where the sled left the ground.

Yanked the skis off my sled, dogmeat had a pair of simmons on his old sled we put on mine... *huge* difference in the way that sled handled with those skis. Rode the rest of the day on those.

My sled as it sits right now:

Mule, you haven't had the best of luck this year. I'm glad to hear you are ok. Look at it this way, you got a chance to try out those Simmons skis we talked about at lunch last week. Heal up and we will look for you soon.

D

Sounds like you had a nice ride Jim, aside from the carnage. We played along the trail but got up to long lake pretty quick. We went through pretty quick then hit those awesome meadows up NE of FC res. Managed to get split up from the gillette group and ran into George and Dave and a couple other guys. We hit the slopes down west of Buff pass and the snow was incredible. Hope the conditions keep favoring us:D

Switchback, was it my old 72 GMC pickup camper of..mostly white? You'd remember it for sure. lol Sounds like you ought to just move out here! We'll have to hook up for a ride sometime.

Sorry to Dave and Deandra and the other fellas for bolting on you this morning. I twisted my ankle, and bent my steering post on Sat and figured the Easter dinner engagement was a better option. The "spare" post has at least three good bends in it and was ready to snap. Had a new one waiting at the door when I got home though. I'll post up some pics of our ride on photo bucket tomorrow.

Hey Mule - Glad you weren't too sore and mostly unscathed :) I really really wish I had a camera on you. Watching you haul through an untouched meadow when all I see is a cloud of powder - then your rear bumper pointed straight towards the sky, the a nice pair of boots pointed similiarly. I must admit I got a little nervous when you didn't move for a good 30 seconds or so.

Time for a new set of Simmons :)

Bad news :(

Sled's screwed up again :(

I took it up to the Uintahs around Vernal yesterday and everything was fine for about an hour or so then all of a sudden it started cutting out really bad ... now it won't run right at anything but about WOT ...

Looks like I might be riding "Ol Reliable" if I make it back out next weekend .... :face-icon-small-dis

edit:

Well ****, more bad news ... I have to work Saturday now it looks like :(

But I have the whole next week off, so maybe I can pull the sled apart in that time and figure out what's going on ...

Bush, if you went up Thursday late in the day then it was you, I know the rig.

Yeah, I know I should move. Last 2 times out my buds sent me back with a phonebook to scope out business competition should we make that choice. Suffice it to say, it's crosses my mind fairly frequently. Could definitely raise our family out there.
