Liquid or fan for kid/wife sled

550 fan or 600 liquid.

They will go a couple times/year. Would be used as a friend/backup sled.

Fanner is 30 pounds lighter, but the 600 has a lot more power.

Fan sled would be a couple years newer for similar prices.

Get the liquid 600.
Make a much better back up sled and give the family a little more power to play with when they ride.

I would go the other way, I guess it depends how old your kids are. I like the fan sled for my kids, they can ride it .5 miles per hour all day long and i dont have to worry about it over heating. Works great for them to ride in circles in the pasture for hours on end.

They are diferent chassis, so which one would be easier to ride? It may serve time pulling kids around the field on a sled also.

I would go with the 550 if its mainly going to be used as a wife/kids sled, like Rixster said, wife or kids could put around in half an inch of snow all day and no problems. If its more of a back up for you or to take a couple friends out I would go for the 600, depends who's going to see more miles on it in a year.

If the wife / kids are not aggressive riders go with the fan It will be a large peace of mind for you. Have done it both ways. Still have one of each today. If they are newbies they will be slow and will have no concept of tempeture's.

I'd probably vote for the 550 Trail aswell, Like you said, it probably won't get used near as often, and fans can go slow all day long.

Thanks for the input. As much as I want a potential backup sled, the fact remains that my wife will never ride very far off trail and my boy is only 12 so that will be the primary use. A couple years from now, a longer track on the fan would help keep it afloat.

if I had a wife she'd be on a 6 or 700 most likley, if I had younger kids they'd be on 340 or 550 fans.

Then when it came time to get the wife a new sled the kids would be older and be on the 6 or 700

IMHO neither. 06 00RMK HO. This new sled design is SOOOO much easier to ride than the edge. I know they are more $ but I'll bet with the 800 Dragons you can buy a 06 600 for around $4500.00 I own a 07 600 that has made me a new rider. Im 45 years old and can go all day in the steep and deep and still have something left for mama. I LOVE the IQs!

Another vote for the fans. I have two kids, that both have fans. Never have to worry about over heating.

An 06 600 is about 4 bills more than i will pay for a part time sled. My $ trees are not blooming yet.
