....in Minot ND.

So my daughter and I had an hour or two to kill today before heading back home to Missoula so we hit the Minot Zoo thinking we would see the Camels.

We walk in and the Leopards are staring us in the face. The Tiger next door was beautiful. The Lion and Lioness were awesom. The brown bears were frisky and climbing up on the bars 3 feet in front of us. The girraff was cool. We feed and petted the Deer.

Oh ya, the Camel was there too.

Best $10 I ever spent in my life!!!

Next year we are going to hit the Eagle exhibit and the Wolves.

Dick,

That is a cool zoo.

You should have seen the old Kodiak Griz they had for MANY years. He was 1600 pounds. He was the biggest fargin thing I have ever seen in my life.

I took a picture of him one time. I"ll see if I can dig it up and scan it.
He would always lean back on the rock sitting on his butt and played with his pud.

He was HUGE.
He was FAT.

He'd charge the cage when you'd walk up to it then sway back and forth about 3 feet from your face with his eyes burning holes through the back of your head.
I heard he died about 10 years ago.

Man that was a cool bear.

Yea, we have it all in Minot. My father in law is the reason we have the zoo. He was the park and rec director for several decades and pushed hard for the Minot zoo. My wife grew up raising wild animals at their house. We have pics with her holding a tiger cub........at their house. When a mother would reject her young my father in law would bring the little shaver home and they would bottle feed it, sometimes for weeks. This was back when the funding and facilities didn't allow for the zoo to handle it, so Mike took care of it himself. They have some pretty cool stories and it was a very popular neighborhood house. Can you imagine having all of those exotic baby animals at your house when you were a kid? How cool.

with those claws, playing with his pud probably not the smartest thing in the world.

My boys at the zoo Omaha zoo!

Have you been looking over the fence into my back yard? Oh, wait - I didn't die 10 years ago.

yes the central park zoo is the chit! we even saw Steve O there filming for jackass lol!

Steve-o doesn't film for jackass, he films for himself.
He is pretty narcisistic.

Did anyone see the story about him and his recovery on Sunday.
WOW.

"Hi, I'm Steve-O and I'm an alcoholic drug user."
