LineX Problem

Had my Triton trailer floor sprayed and it lifted in the middle after one trip! The installer said moisture got underneath. Got my money back and they are tearing it out. Anyone had this happen?

Yes this can happen.

I was a line x applicator for 6 years.

What did it look like? Was it wet to the touch? Usually what happens is the mixture goes off and it can go resin or hardner heavy. Moisture usually isn't an issue if you apply it correctly.

Sounds like they are fixing their mistake though?

I acually took it back to them cause my carbide cut right through so i wanted them to fix it. I was going to put superglides in. When they put it in their shop overnight thats when it lifted. I haven't seen what it looks like. They gave me the option to try and fix it and wouldn't garentee it or just give me my money back. Now I don't know what to do.. I wanted the wood to stay sealed and dry because I had the underneath insolated.

We looked into it "Line-X" after my current bedliner had begun peeling, was quoted 1800 to have it done.

The suggested way for it to be done was to dry out the trailer, and put a good layer of Killz down, They said because of the way that flooring material is glued together, there could possibly be an issue with bonding because the temp of the material at the time of application can flash to a pretty high temp and melt the glue.

That is why they use a good coat of Killz, it is a sealer, and after being dry seems to negate the glue issue.

though this is what i was told, 1800 was a little much for me.

That's BS! That applicator should stand behind their work and fix the issue.

I would try and find out who their distributer is and contact them, they should be able to help. Or get your money back and take it to another applicator and pay them to fix it. In my opinion the original applicator is being lazy, or he realized his product went off ratio and doesn't want the headache of fixing it(cause it's a bitch!).

Now about the carbide, carbides will cut it that's what they are designed to do. I'd like to see pictures of the cut and the area that needs repair if you have some.

As far as price, it's a bit high for a trailer your size I would have charged about 3500. Now if you wanted color other then black the price goes up and also depending on how high up the walls.

Hope this helps a bit.

Ryanlilly, if you read the post, they did refund his money.

Yes, I saw that. The problem is now he's stuck with a trailer that's messed up. The issue should have been fixed correctly. The line x is impossible to remove from wood with out delaminating it. So great his money is refunded but now he has the job of trying to remove the line x and replacing decking....

Thanks for the info! Yeah they gave me a couple options on trying to fix it but really im not that happy with it! Its colored and very very slippery! So they are refunding me and trying to take it off. I dont know what im going to do now!? I want it to look nice, sealed, and not slippery.

Pick my trailer up today. They say that the spray insolation is trapping moisture from underneath and soaks the wood which lifts the LineX off.

find a distributor on the laminated deckand replace it. I know southland trailers in lethbridge sells it for about 125 a sheet. If you have 27 foot trailer you would need roughly 4-5 sheets to do floor and ramp doors. get rid of discolored slippery floor, put some super glides on top and good to go. All these places promising non cut floors is hard to find a product that will actually not cut. I custom built my last trailer and had a product called rumber put in. its the only product that hasn't been torn to shiz from a carbide yet(only used it twice though)

If the line x company is refunding money and trying to take product back out no charge I wouldn't be to hard on them. dad had a rhino bed put in his truck, long story short they company sucked and the job sucked worse. they reluctantly refunded money but wouldn't remove liner. took it to a line x place and paid them to remove and put there product in. night and day difference of quality. dad is a happy camper even though he had to pay 800 bucks to remove the rhino liner(worth every penny compared to doing it ourselves)
