Lets talk socks.... which have you found to be effective?

Hello,
I'm looking for suggestions/experiences regarding riding socks. I have tried FXR socks and they were no better than any other sock I have used in the last 15 years....they seem to have no moisture wicking capabilty and by the days end my feet/boots are wet from the inside out.

I'm not afraid of spending the $'s on some socks that truley work as we need them to, so please post up with your experiences/suggestions on a good pair of socks for western riding. BTW, I am wearing HMK PRO boots.

Thanks,
-John

I have used merino wool, Klim, and Fox socks and have never had a problem with either. I wear the standard Klim boots. Always been dry & warm. Wool is a little thicker but have no complaints on any I wear

Thanks for the responce Timber700RMK. Which Fox socks do you have...Proforma or Coolmax?

Thanks,
-John

The Klim socks work great. Thin and moisture wicking. Displacing the moisture away from your feet is a huge step to staying warm. The important thing is that you find something moisture wicking. Most MX socks work well too. (alpinestars, NoFear are my favorites) Thor and Fox make some as well. They will be labeled as Coolmax. The nice thing about MX socks is that they also are tall enough for knee guards.

I currently have a couple pair of Fox motocross cool max that are the best I have found. Really good if your feet tend to sweat a lot. And they are thick up the legs and protect against rubbing from unbroken in boots.

Klim Rocks, I wear them while I ride both Dirt and Snow.

I also wear them most every day during the winter. very comfortable sock I have 10 pairs that are about a year old and they all still look and feel great.

John,

I have used a lot of different pairs of socks over the years and I LOVE my Klim socks...

Cheers
Shawn

The key I think is Socks, whether its coolmax or wigman or whatever I have found that wearing two or more pair of thin liner type socks is phenominal with keeping your feet dry plus those who wear a stiffer boot will find it MUCH easier to take them off at the end of the day:)

wool/synthetic blend socks. They have never let me down!

I have used smartwool socks... but I heard that wallyworld sells the same thing for half as much....

Just remember..... STAY AWAY FROM COTTON! I don't were any cotton when I ride...... COTTON KILLS! .... yes I am yelling..

I have a couple of every kind like FOX ...661...FLY...but by far my all around favorites have been smart wool from cabela's. For all I know they might be the same as the others with just a different brand name but I do like the smarties. Thin soft & comfy but have held up really well and they stay up.

In combo with my HMK Pro Boa Focus II I am one dry comfortable happy hotrodder!

it doesnt matter what i wear, just a nice light inner layer, then a warm one on top... most of the time i just wear one medium tall winter sock, and i stay really warm... most of the time i come back and my feet are soaked in sweet from riding hard. and i got me a nice ski-doo clutch to keep my left foot nice and toasty all the time.

i dont think i can ever recall having cold feet. the only time i get cool, is riding the trail back to the truck, and then i keep my toes tucked into the front of the sled and she stays nice and warm

Wool all the way. Wicks, stays warm when wet and just plain work.

Just got the kind F-bomb mentioned and so far in every day wear they are great...we'll see come winter.

They are a wool/synthetic mix with some spandex so they never quit on ya.

bingo, doesn't matter which brand as along as they have what is quoted above.

Yeah I had the same issue. Tried Thor Coolmax, 661, and Fly. They all worked better than a cotton sock but my feet were still soaked. I bought some socks from KTM(It's just licenced stuff but I'm not sure who does actually make em) and they work awesome. Summer or winter, I bought a few pairs so I didn't have to wear one of my other socks if we were riding for multiple days. I wear HMK's.
