Wireless Smoke Alarms
Nest makes wi fi smoke alarms and a camera. Ring makes a door bell and external camera with motion alerts.
Forgot to mention....speaking of security systems....
At my office we have a local company that handles our security system. It does security and fire. On Tuesday night we had our carpets cleaned at 5 pm. I stopped back by the office at 6:30 ish to make sure everything was locked up when they left, opened the door, looked in the main part of the front office and all was well, smelled like clean carpet, locked up and headed home.
At about 8pm I got a call from the monitoring service that there was a smoke alarm going off and the local fire dept was on their way. So I hauled *** in to meet them. FWIW, the fire dept is about 2 blocks away, I beat them to the office and I live about 5 minutes out of town. Luckily there was no major fire, just smoke in the same front office I had checked and hour and a half earlier.
Moral of the story for me was if I am going to pay for a security system, it is going to include some type of fire monitoring.
