That was the case back to 2011. You don't want to strip the foam w/o adding the exhaust tape. You need to check it throughout the winter too because that rubbing will rub the exhaust tape. Not a problem though, it never melted on me.

the bottom picture i posted of the belt drive was on a demo sled last year had some miles on it and no melting of foam or side panel, little rubbing on the can but who cares if you get that BD Turbo!
