I HAVE BEEN DEBATING TO TAKE A ATV SEAT AND COSTOMIZE IT TO FIT MY SLED AND PUT A COVER OF SOME SORT TO STORE STUFF UNDER THE SEAT... ANY PICS WOULD BE GREAT GIVE ME SOME IDERS:rolleyes::rolleyes:

a friend bet me 20 bucks i couldnt do it. i did it. rode 5 miles up the trail. turned around and took it off. if you are gonna do it i would recomend using a support that goes under the seat. the ones going out the back get in the way :) anyway looks like chit but hey i got 20 bucks ;)

that what i want!!! i like it. i am all ways standing up. all day until its time to head back to the truck. spent:cool: then i sit. so i just need a little bit there so i can sit on something:D:D... looks cool to me....

I have been contenplating building a seat as well. As of right now I am leaning real hard towards not having a seat this season. I don't know how much a wet Arctic cat seat weighs but I am thinking close to 20lbs and I hardly ever sit on it. I have no desire to spend a lot of money on a lighter seat that my a** never sits on so I may be that white trash guy with no seat. I don't care how white trash I look as long as I am putting the high marks on the mountain.

I would show you my homemade seat, but after Nate go finished making fun of it, I'm self conscious about it. Luckly, my rear covers it. :)

i maybe the "WHITE TRASH" this year also.. not much $$$$ growing on my tree this year ..lol

I know weight savings is key and i don't want to rattle anyones cage. But IMO a seat helps you off road, you can kinda squeeze it with your knees to hold on better. Removing your seat is going to put all the pressure on your ankles, which may kinda suck in the long run. Just my opinion.

Although with that said I have always thought it would be cool to have a dirt bike on my sled.

Gary I think you may need your seat more than you think.:D( remember this in McCall, bout 10ft from the road?)

Re: Seat foam

Hey gents. A thought to ponder.... go to the local lumberyard and have a look at construction foam. The stuff that is in a roll and about 3/8" thick. You can buy this up to I think 4" thick. The stuff in a roll is used under the sill plate on your house to seal the sill to the foundation. A lot of seat makers are using this type of foam to make the base of the seat. It is lightweight and more important does not absorb water. After the foundation has been layed out on this type of foam you add only what you want to the top of a soft foam for comfort. My bud is using some space foam on top that doesn't absorb water... marine applications may be something to look at also.... You can use an electric knife to cut the shapes you want out of the foam. You could also have a look at "Mountain Mod seats" I have two of them and I personally like them better than the rest including Boss. The fit and finish is flawless and they have great storage. Probably if you asked a custom shape or design would be possible. I have a couple buds who sent in their stockers and had them re-done with the aftermarket foam and awesome coverings. Check it out... good luck!!!
