Everyone, there are a lot of people posting right now that think their way of life has come to an end. You are working yourselves into a frenzy. You will settle down after a bit. When you do, please read this speech that John McCain gave last night and think about it. He is pleading with you to help our country come together. He has some very good advice for you.

McCains very excellent speech:
"Thank you. Thank you, my friends. Thank you for coming here on this beautiful Arizona evening.

My friends, we have come to the end of a long journey. The American people have spoken, and they have spoken clearly.

A little while ago, I had the honor of calling Sen. Barack Obama to congratulate him, to congratulate him on being elected the next president of the country that we both love.

In a contest as long and difficult as this campaign has been, his success alone commands my respect for his ability and perseverance. But that he managed to do so by inspiring the hopes of so many millions of Americans who had once wrongly believed that they had little at stake or little influence in the election of an American president is something I deeply admire and commend him for achieving.

This is an historic election, and I recognize the special significance it has for African-Americans and for the special pride that must be theirs tonight.

I've always believed that America offers opportunities to all who have the industry and will to seize it. Sen. Obama believes that, too.

But we both recognize that, though we have come a long way from the old injustices that once stained our nation's reputation and denied some Americans the full blessings of American citizenship, the memory of them still had the power to wound.

A century ago, President Theodore Roosevelt's invitation of Booker T. Washington to dine at the White House was taken as an outrage in many quarters.

America today is a world away from the cruel and frightful bigotry of that time. There is no better evidence of this than the election of an African-American to the presidency of the United States.

Let there be no reason now for any American to fail to cherish their citizenship in this, the greatest nation on Earth.

Sen. Obama has achieved a great thing for himself and for his country. I applaud him for it, and offer him my sincere sympathy that his beloved grandmother did not live to see this day, though our faith assures us she is at rest in the presence of her Creator and so very proud of the good man she helped raise.

Sen. Obama and I have had and argued our differences, and he has prevailed. No doubt many of those differences remain.

These are difficult times for our country. And I pledge to him tonight to do all in my power to help him lead us through the many challenges we face.

I urge all Americans who supported me to join me in not just congratulating him, but offering our next president our good will and earnest effort to find ways to come together to find the necessary compromises to bridge our differences and help restore our prosperity, defend our security in a dangerous world, and leave our children and grandchildren a stronger, better country than we inherited.

Whatever our differences, we are fellow Americans. And please believe me when I say no association has ever meant more to me than that.

It is natural, tonight, to feel some disappointment. But tomorrow, we must move beyond it and work together to get our country moving again.

We fought — we fought as hard as we could. And though we fell short, the failure is mine, not yours.

I am so deeply grateful to all of you for the great honor of your support and for all you have done for me. I wish the outcome had been different, my friends."

The reason so many people are upset is we have been here before.
This isn't change. It is simply a change in direction within the existing power system.
The Dems had complete control in the 70's.
It brought us the welfare system (as it is known today).
Slums.
Gangs
explosive inflation
massive unemployment
unaffordable housing.

We are upset because we remember.

If this was a new direction, a new start, that would be different.
This is just chapter 2 of a long running saga.

well since we won't have jobs how about we all get togather hold hands and sing kumbaya. I guess i can still challenge him to a dual?

And that is just your OPINION. You seem to be a bit more open minded than some on here, why not at least give the guy a chance?

McCain's concession speech was incredible. If he had sounded like that during the rest of the campaign, he might of had a better chance. Oh, wait, nope. IF he had picked a better running mate, there would not have been a huge landslide. Biggest margin in Presidential election in 60 years.

I've smelled and seen the cool-aid Obama is selling. He said it in his very own words. "spread the wealth" take from those who have more, you know jobs and are willing to work harder to get further, and give to those who have less. Translation, those who don't want to work at all but still want equal share of the pie. Have you not seen the clips of these people who think soon as he gets in power they won't have to pay their mortgage. That wasn't a joke there are LOTS of them out there that really believe that. Give him a chance? No thank you! I will now and for the next 4yrs min. do whatever it takes to protect my family from this type of cancer that spreads like wild fire.

Reagan v. Carter 1980?????????

Reagan 489 to Carters 49

27% interest on construction loans with Carter!! I've seen this play before. Made it then, will make it now. Just tougher. The question is, who will be our next Reagan????

i got to wonder what the demacrats would do if a few million people that see there policies for what they are went tax exzempt for the 2009 tax year...
told them to re distribute and build more government on there dime....

i know its unamerican to talk that way and not pay my share......

The past is the past, I'm gonna cowboy up and send old obama a congratulatory present.......

Normally don't post in politics but.......Reagan/modale 1984 525/13

Another 1980 Reagan/Carter 1980 489/49

Not stirring the pot....but certainly not the largest margin in 60 years.

Can you say barter? I will never write out a bill or take a cheque for any work that I do again. I feel real sorry for the people who live in the coal states. How can anyone possibly be so dumb? I am fine ( I hope ) because I am almost 70 years old but I feel bad for those of you in your 30s and 40s who have or are starting new businesses, like I did. It won't be so easy now. My advice would be use credit cards and deal with banks all you can and maintain a spotless credit rating and a reputation for doing exactly what you say you will do. There will be a real split now between those who will work hard to rebuild our great country and those who will sit and wait for life to be handed to them.
We may have a real hard time though I hope not.

..........and the whole time McCain was giving that speech.........he was thinking to himself............

WERE FAWKED!!!!

Thanks for clearling the Reagan landslide up for me. I was just saying what I had heard on the radio on the way to work.

That kind of thinking is what got obama elected! "I heard it on the radio so it must be true"

I know this much, I am going to hoard as much cash as I can, I am not going to give it to any lazy azzed democrat lovers.

I am a little excited at the same time, maybe the prophet Obama will actually bring peace to the galaxy as the worls thinks he will(I personally doubt it), but if he can, then lets see it.

If he does half of what he says he can do, we will be in phenominal shape in 8 years, I just know it cant happen, it is not possible. So then the theory is such.....if he cant get it done, but has a good start, does he propose a new constitutional amendment to change the term limit so he can get 8 more? Afterall, the entire goverment is democrat now, he can do anything he want.

If he does just the opposite, the reps will be back in 4, and they whiners will be whining again and again.......

I only want one thing for now, and that is that Obama will admit, that he is in fact, not african american, but in fact half-african american. If I did not know better, I would say he is racist towards european americans as all the media announces our first black president..............not a word of change from Obama. His white side of the family should be ashamed.
