There was a group of us that stayed at the Glacier house this past week and let's just say it was not a very good experience. I would like to know if this is a secluded incident or if there are others that have bad experiences with them.

Just curious on what you guys didnt like???We have stayed there the last 3 yrs in a row and heading there this Monday again for 3 days....We have always had a fairly good experience...really good food/clean room/nice atmostphere in the pub.I have to admit though if it wasnt for the owners wife and their nice staff making up for what miserable D%$K he is we probably wouldnt go back(the guy has got to learn some customer service .. and not be so pissed off all the time :confused:)

few things from me on the gh

same food over and over again and they couldn't get your order right
breakfast made everyone sick
bad gas had to drain and clean carbs on one sled 3nd day after fillin up with them

oh and i recommend when you check out have them go through the room with you and sign a piece of paper stating that it happend or they wil bill your cc for some big $$ in damages that werent there when you left:mad:

great snow in revy

i just recommend staying in town or another place

Gh

I wouldn't go there ever...and certainly not at christmas...last year I had friends there that did not realize they had to book for christmas dinner (even though they were paying for the meal package) they fed them crap after making people cry thinking they may not get supper.....the owner is a piece of work..last time he dumped a loader of snow on one of our trucks with the backhoe to prove his power about where we should park......last christmas we stayed at the Hillcrest...a very nice hotel with great staff..two hot tubs..and a nice christmas meal....we ate every other meal in town...the gas is crap at glacier and even if you stay there you need to drive...

I have stayed at glacier house twice, once for three or four days in february 2008 then again for two days just recently before christmas. On my most recent trip at the end of our first day sledding I bent an A-arm out on frisby ridge. My sled was still ridable and got back down and stopped by the shop and Alex (the owner) was there. Was hoping that there was some chance they might have an extra one there. Allthough some of my previous experience with him was not exceptional this day he was particularly friendly and helpful. Unfortunatly no luck with having any spare polaris parts around there but he got on the phone and called around for me and found me an a-arm at Backus Racing just outside Sicamous. Got them to take my credit card number over the phone and hang the part on the fence so I could drive out there that night and pick it up was about an hour and a half away. Alex told me that If I was able to get the part to show up in the morning at his shop and he would see what he could do about helping me swap it out. I showed up first thing in the morning and he ended up pulling his current project off his lift to get my sled in and helped me swap it out. Also painted the a-arm because it was a different color from a different year sled - his suggestion, more time and effort than I was going to ask for but gladly took him up on it. Ended up taking about two hours and broke a box end wrench trying to bend it to access one of the bolts. Filled up the sleds with gas charged me $50 bucks for two hours of his time in his shop and off we went. Deffinatly good customer service in my books. Have only stayed in the cabins - enjoyed the use of them ride in and out, private hot tub, clean and reasonably priced. Never had any trouble with the gas probably burned 10-15 tanks total in our group.

that place is so hit and miss sometimes you get good service, and sometimes u get ****ty service most often latley its not been good just my 2 bits, we just got back from 9 days in siacamous, eagle valley lodge now that is an awsome place to stay wont be going back to gh anytime soon.

Ive had alot of friends go there several times a year as well as the wife and i and we have always had a great experience...ill post up when i get back on thurs about this trip:beer;

I can promise you I won't be staying up there either, nor will everyone else that was there with our group, I can about garuntee that one. I've heard some good things about the hillcrest. Next time i get the urge to drive 30+ hours I'll be staying there.

If you guys ever come up again, you should stay at Eagle Valley Lodge towards Sicamous, you will have a great time there. ;)
Great Guide too.

Me and 3 of my buddies spent Wed to Mon there last week and to be honest I found the rooms spacious and clean, the food was fine and the staff friendly, we had to rent machines and they worked good, the guide (Steve) was awesome - we had no real complaints but I can see how people can view the owner differently - Alex seems to be cocky and grumpy alot - he could sure use some customer service training but the weather and snow was awesome and nothing could put us in a bad mood!!!!!

Unfortunately we won't be staying at the GH anymore either. Some buddies decided to boycott Revy all together because of the GH.

It is very hit and miss. Rooms are great, staff is good, I've had a few minor run-in's with Alex but on the other hand if he knows you or reconizes you and he's in the right mood, great luck.
I do remember one day, we were going to go riding, about 2km up the trail my sled blew up. Came back down(around 10am) and wanted to rent the Hawk. But just for half a day. Alex said no can do, no half day rates on the Hawk. We sat around for an hour pizzin' around and told him we'd give him a few hundred bucks for a few hours on the Hawk, planning on loading up and getting outta there around 2pm. He declined. Instead of renting us a Hawk for 2hrs(at $100/hr) he lost a group of customers for good. Nobody went back up the hill that day and we all left with a sour taste of the GH. What irked me the most, was that Alex had asked if we checked out already or were spending more night with them. I wonder if I said we were spending more time there he'd have been more welcoming. I hate to think that since he already got the majority of our money he didn't "need" anymore of it.

We did have a Kimpex Dealer Show at the GH last season and it was great. Good atmosphere, bar closed down a little early foodwise(and to get served was something else) My buddy took off to town, grabbed half dozen BigMacs, and was back before our drinks got to the table. And then we were asked to leave when he brought in BigMacs for everyone. Because it wasn't their food. Meanwhile our drinks hadn't even materialized. Musta just been the group we were with that made the stay that much better. And yes, I've experienced bad fuel from the pump too. Most times no issue though. $30 for a balaclava that I sell for $10 at the shop I work at was a bit of an eye opener too.

great know i don't know what to think, 3 trailer loads of guys from here goin to revy next weekend and i guess we are stayin at the GH ????????????

i guess it will be a coin flip on what to expect??????????

when you check out have them go in with you so when your 1000miles down the road they dont call you and tell you a bunch of bs and you need to spend another $1800

Great Guide too.

i plan to make 1-2 trips up there a year now

ill have to pm you when im up there so you can get my apex running like yours :D

Stayed there a few times over the years........found that Lea and the rest of the staff are really good, food was good. Alex on the other hand was, as said above, very moody and not very hospitable. Only time he showed any bit of decency was when he let a guy in our group use a couple of his tools......in my opinion he didn't want to do that much.

Haven't been back at all this year and don't plan on going back anytime soon......too bad cause the rooms, cabins and staff were really nice.

Highly recommend Peaks or Days Inn

My .02:beer;

beware!!!!!!

there crooks there!!!! food sucks, service sucks! and they fake bill ya for stuff after you leave!!!!! make sure you report every little thing wrong in your room! or your paying for it!!!
