BD vs Silber

Sorry for such a delay on getting back on my side by side comparisons on my 2 sleds one with the BD 163. and the Silber on a 155, both are pro's

Conditions.. 1st day 2-3 ft of fresh powder spring like down low but once on top it was coming over the hoods. Temps 18-25.

First day out on the silber was simply incredible! I was running 9-10#'s on 50/50 gas. The BD was also running 9-10 #'s on 100% AV.
On the trail the silber would kill the BD on quickness and spool up. This may be because of the 155 vs 163..?? Trees the 155 just outshines the 163. I made several over corrections on sidehills and power carves in the deep snow. I am use to the 163.
The silber kit was spot on. Very quick on the spool and very friendly. I did not touch a thing on the box. The only issue I was having was I would hit the rev limiter on the flats or not so steep climb at 10 #'s.
Now we went to some big chute climbs. We actually played the "GOLF GAME" just like the boys from Team Thunder struck did during the Master tournament.
The sleds where.... 2 163 A/C race gas BD and a stock 163 800 all arctic cat.
vs 2 Pro turbo's BD 163 and my 155 silber and our stock sled was a pro Assault.

The first big climb we hit One of the T cats goes up and puts a mark approx. half way up this chute.. (Deep snow and at the halfway mark there is a good size headwall you got to make) I went next and stayed out of his tracks as much as I could I make it a little further up. Then the Pro 163 goes up and sets a really high mark. The stock sleds can only make it to the headwall for thier highmark. Myself and one of the cats keep beating on this a few more times and we basically max out just past the halfway mark. I then got on the 163 pro BD and hit it a couple more times and on the 4th time I make it up and over!!:face-icon-small-hap
The T cat tried again using my track but could not make it through the blow holes from earlier tracks he gets stuck and is pissed that he lost that one.
By the way the guy on the T Cat also races on the RMSHA circut so yes he can ride.
The silber kit was very impressive to me on this first day. The only problem I see was that a 155 can not climb with a 163 PERIOD. on stock suspension The 155 just wheelies to much and is hard to handle at 10 #'s.
Any time I jumped on the Pro 163 I could take that higher than the 155.
I feel that the Silber kit on the 155 made more track speed that the BD 163, again that is probably because of the track lenghts.

2nd Day I added weight to my sled so I could turn up the boost even more and see what it could do.. Started out great and just a kick in the azz to ride.. in and out of the trees up some hills boondocking everywhere, Awesome.. boost was still around 7#'s

Then I started to get a terrible low end bog.. The trees became very tough and the low end was killing me.. Once I could get over 5800 rpm the sled was up on boost and ripping. I played with the box a touch and even backed off some weight on the clutch. Nothing was changing the low end. Checked for anything obvious but no luck.
Very bummed out that this happened.
Talked with Justin on the way home and he gave me some ideas.
Get home tear down the sled. check a few more things. Go up the test and still nothing working.
I now am heading out of town some the sled goes to the dealership so they can check it out..
The reeds were still perfect.
Then they did a compression check.. Now the sled was in Demo and had 600 miles on it when I got it. I did notice some marks on the PTO side piston when I was installing the kit and made note of this.
When I started the project the sleds compression was at 110 each side.
Now after 70 miles the PTO side was down th 92 and the Mag was 101
Tore down the sled and replaced pistons. The wash on the existing pistons looked great, There was no way that the Turbo kit was the reason we lost compression.

The sled is up and ready to go again. I have been talking to Justin and he has been great. I am going to try a new map on the box. and try to get back up in the mountains tomorrow.

Now in my opinion on the 2 kits.. And I do have 6-8 guys that are going to turbo their 2011 Pro's and some new 2012 Pro's and they are waiting for me to tell them which way to go..
The Silber kit was, is very simple to do. Clean very nice looking. The instructions need to be updated because there was a couple of times I had to take something back off to get to something else and then reinstall. PAIN in the AZZ.
The BD after I and help from others have spent 2-3 months to get it to work. Works very well.
The EBC is a nice feature for the guys that don't want to touch a thing.

I do install the intake outside the hood on both kits.

What kit am I going to run next year? If this sled rips like it did on the first day I had it out, then Silber...

Justin has some awesome things coming up for next year and his customer service is 2nd to none.

I wish I had his kit on a 163 to see. But I have a feeling that the Silber kit will be the best selling kit out there next year.

Cheers

DC... one of the best write-ups I've seen in a long time.

Keep us in the loop with the remainder of the season and the new pistons.

Life is good!!

lets see the vid!!

Not sure how to post a vid.. no you tube acct. If someone wants to post it up for me I can try to email it to you..???

Thanks for the comments
I do love this kit.
I am planning on attempting this chute again for the 10 HIGH video, plus others.

100 + mile update

I am over 100 miles since I installed the new pistons in my Pro with the Silber kit. No motor issues. We rode just over 50 miles today close to 6 inches of new wet spring snow.
We had the other 2 BD turbos with us today also..
The BD's still have a better bottom end than my Silber, But I have only had my Silber kit on this sled out a half dozen times compared to a few dozen times out on the BD to fine tune it.
Once the Silber is over 5800 rpm this sled rips and the track speed today going up the steep chutes was in the mid 50's.
I was having an issue on my midrange getting to lean and hitting the DET.
One of the BD was also hitting the DET and that sled has been running trouble free since we replaced the reeds over 200 miles ago.
The other BD sled was running perfect all day... So go figure. These 2 sleds do not run the same #'s and have different clutch set ups. Both BD kits were running 6-8 #'s on 100% AV gas. I was running 8#'s on a 50/50 mix with 112 race.
I need my Silber kit to get the same low end response as the BD's have.. And I am sure Justin will help me out on that.

I have not had a chance to post some of the video's of the climbs up yet and I have a few more today on a "Go Pro" so I am anxious to see them too.
Until then..
Cheers

I've been told that the Pros are on built out on the edge with timing and ompression, etc....and can go into DET Lock REALLY easily.
