He was just over a year old when we got him.... the breeder didn't say anything about it but I'm pretty sure she had placed him then got him back. He seemed to really like her... but STILL has issues with men, especially older ones with grey hair.

So sad! At least he has a good loving home now. :) The peeps we are geting our puppy from are fussy. One person got turned down. I like seeing breeders that want to make sure the puppies go to a good home.

In some ways it would be easier getting a puppy. But on the other hand it has been very rewarding gaining his trust.... amazing how time and kindness and consistency can repair most of the mental wounds.

He has a great home now :D It is nice to hear you have worked with him and he is coming around with all the love...takes a long time for animals to trust again!

Puppies are fun...but lots of work too. Though I guess you've had to put in work as well, just in a different way. Every animal deserves a loving home.

The breeder we got him from made us wait for almost two months for him.... im pretty sure she was screening us and making sure we were seriously interested. In some ways it bothers me that she didn't tell me more but maybe she didn't know how he would react. He was great with the kids right from the beginning.

He pretty much needed to be re-trained from scratch. He didn't know what a leash was.... and was not properly house trained....

I didn't leave him unsupervised for about a month. I knew right away that he was gonna be a project.

The firsdt time I put a leash on him was something else. He freaked out and did this backflip kinda thing trying to escape. Clubbed himself pretty good on the side walk. Then wouldn't move. Just sat there. The first walk was about 35 feet.

Being told some history would be good. I tend to think it helps out more. Lets ya know what is needed. Great that he loved the kids right off...sure they loved him right back. :)

But now he loves his walks... and going running even more.... like most dogs he goes absolutely nuts when he sees the running shoes come out.
