You all were really helpful when I was trying get my girlfriend more into sledding. I sold the yamaha she was riding and picked her up an almost new M7. She's been riding this season and I think it's going to stick so now I need to hook her up with some riding gear. I was looking at the HMK Woman's Action Jacket. Any of you have one? Do you like it? Is there anything better? The Klim Allure looks nice but doesn't see like it would be comfortable with a Tek Vest on. Also, what vest is best for women? Thanks for any help, I really have no idea where to start and with her limited experience she really doesn't either.

I have a Youth tek vest... But I'm a pretty little people.. I tried the Bee Wear and it just didn't fit right rubbed sores on my shoulders and was so restrictive feeling.. So went with the Klim tek I hardly know it is there and it seems to help keep my pack hanging from my shoulders where it should be... I know alot of gals who love the six six one..... And love em!!! So sounds like the 661 is a great option.

As far as gear... I think my most favorite is my HMK tech hoodie... The Klim pants are great but once again I'm pretty small so they never seemed to fit right. I have been looking more and more into snowboard gear, what I like about it is that it has all the same important features as sled gear ie: waterproof, pockets, function. And it seems to be a little more girl taylored alot more options as far as colors/cuts/sizes, and it is more original type stuff. I bought a pair of Burton snowboard boots late this season after wearing the Klims and I Love these boots!!! Plus the snowboard gear tends to be ALOT more affordable.. Especially this time of year on this seasons closeouts.

That is awsome she is rockin the M7 great sled... I sometimes miss my little M7.

As far as buying snowboard stuff you gotta be careful... thats what I did this year, thought I was pretty smart but it did fall short in some areas. I like it cuz like Marmot said you get a lot of choices/colors etc but as far as durability it isnt made as "tough" as sledding gear. Just spent 400 bucks on these really sweeeeet Cap3l (ride) pants and they are already ripped :( depends on how rough she is on stuff... i tend to beat my gear up! I got a DC coat which seems to hold up and is SUPER warm/water resistent...And for boots I also got the snowboard ones... too bad they have these little metal hooks for the laces that I jammed into my polished tunnel..its not so polished in the feet regions anymore :(

I have the HMK Women's Action Jacket and love it! I wear it without the liner (a must, IMO) over my 661 coresaver, which I also highly recommend. I have never been cold or wet wearing this jacket, and I have ridden in some pretty wet conditions (lol - gotta love WA!). I often wear just the liner while loading/unloading at the snopark, nice 2-in-1 option.

The jacket feels roomy enough to me even with the vest (again, no liner for me), but I would suggest having your gf try one on to check arm length. I'm small (and wear the SM jacket) and even I could use an extra inch or so length in the arms. Otherwise, absolutely love it!

I wear UnderArmour Cold Gear under my 661 Coresaver and a shell or jersey, only, on those warmer days (anything above 25 degrees). But I prefer to ride a little cool - I hate to overheat! I have a couple of shell options - but not an HMK (yet). If she is going to wear a vest and a backpack it's good to remember that those two items maintain ALOT of bodyheat, so a lined jacket can quickly become too much (such as the KLIM Allure).

I have the Ascent jacket from HMK, and I LOOOVE it! Never cold etc etc. I am gonna buy a new vest this year, more than likely sixsixone, since I've heard only good things! As for pants, they are also HMK...they make some good stuff!! :D:D
Good luck!

OMG... I have been through this with my wife a couple times and now we have to find her new gear again...

Its more painful than an allien anal probe...

I have Scott USA pants I am a small gal as well, the XSM Scott pants have vents in the thighs, they sit lower on my hips compaired to the HMKs that about like the old style waist high pants. The scotts never once got wet nor did they get cold. Scott is also doing ladies coats, I wore the 2010 grey and pink jacket most of the season and absolutely loved it, I got a medium as it fit well with the Tek-Vest. The thing I see is not much for venting, which they may have changed in production not sure yet. HMK does have venting and removable liners which is awesome!!! I have had Klim, HMK, and Scott. The pants I had from HMK and Klim are high waisted, the Scotts fit my frame better.

There are some great options in sledchick gear out there and more to come, so exciting!

I have ridden in the HMK Action jacket (with out the liner) for 2 years now and have never been wet or cold. To warm if anything, many days I'll shed it while riding! I also wish the arm length was longer, but believe that they are lengthening this for the upcoming season. Along with a few cool options...... :D

I have the HMK Action pants and the one & only complaint I have is the length. I'm a long legged, wide wingspan kinda girl. Other than that the pants have great pockets, great venting, nice and thin so you don't over heat.

The Tech Hoodie is the bomb! If it had ventalation and wrist cuffs I don't think I'd ride in any other jacket! Light, soft, water and wind proof. Oooolala

I've only ever worn HMK boots. Currently have the Pro Boas and totally dig them. I've had a chance to compare to a few other boots and for this girl, these are still the boots.

Vests- I started with a Tek Vest and it was too big. Rode in a B-Wear for one year and it was to restrictive and solid. Have been in the 661 CoreSaver for 3 winters now and wouldn't trade it for nothing. Good protection in all the needed areas and just as importantly COMFY for the girl body.

My philosophy is layer layer layer. Your outer layer shouldn't be bulky. Shells are nice and can be worn in all conditions and allows YOU to manage your temps by the underlayers. On ALL days I have a thin base layer under my pants, never needed anything heavier. On some days I'll have a thin base and my Klim Sundance (this shirt is impressive!) shirt under my vest. This combination is to warm for any coat or shell and more often than not just this is what I'll end up riding in. Otherwise, a thin base, vest and jacket. Walla, warm and happy.

Hope this helps!!!! :) Good job on getting her hooked! :D

hear you on the long legged, it's a pain in the a$$! Never win..:p
I agree layers layers layers!

Thanks for the input from you all, she is/was a pretty avid snowboarder and that gear has gotten her through this season but it's starting to wear and I think I she will need some tougher gear. Thanks for the link to the core saver, although I think I'm going to have to find a dealer where she can try it on. I'll never figure out all those measurements.

Good job on getting her hooked! :D

As far as getting her hooked, it has been a challenge. I've never had a ton of patience and this has been a test of what little I have but every ride shes gets better and now pretty much gets everywhere she needs to go, sometimes it's just not pretty. I never realized how many things you just naturally pick up or learn over years of riding. It's fun to watch her progress...:)
