KTM Euro map, or other tuners?

Having hell with my 2016 500xcw.

Ran like a Swiss watch at 10,000 feet, down here at home @ 3800 it's throwing fits.

Did a no no and put a little 87 in it on a long ride and got some detonation.

Now it's sputtering and back firing on acceleration with known good gas.

Darn 4 stroke POS is making me mad, so regret not getting the 300!

Anyways, what do I need to do to this thing to get it to run right?

Start it up with out touching the throttle, and let it idle for 10min with out touching the throttle. It will relearn the elevation and correct the tune. If it gets better but not quite perfect, replete the process.

No dice!

Still runs like doo doo.

Only thing I can think of, are smog stuff like the stock muffler?

And it looks like the dealer got carried away oiling the air filter, so maybe filter oil getting in there?

The fuel filters plug easily. Check that. I removed stock filter and run a golan now. There is a lot of info on advriders forum.

Thanks on the filter! Have spent hours reading stuff, about loco at this point. Battery is a maybe also, dealer supposedly gave me a new one as it wouldn't start off the floor. But it won't hold a charge, so thinking I got screwed there.

Euro Map?

Was this right after switching to the Euro map?
Im going threw some learning curve on my new Husky 501, same motor as the KTM 500.
I had the dealer install the euro map. Bike ran like crap. come to find out the euro KTM/Husky usa bikes do not have an O2 sensor. The euro map needs that since the EU bikes have an O2 sensor
Bottom line from what I have learned is the euro map is a no go. I had to go back to the usa map and am setting up a power commander with my local dyno tuner adding a map switch. and a few other upgrades.

No, I'm completely stock USA.

Was hoping that maybe the Euromap would help? But sounds like no.

At this point I'm thinking a issue with the battery, or the fuel filter like snowhawk thinks.

With another maybe being throttle position sensor.

If it's backfiring on acceleration, could be starving for fuel. Check easy stuff first. Fuel filter, spark plug etc. The wiring is horrible behind headlight. Make sure nothing shorting. The tps is very easy to adjust. I have a bestdualsportbikes box for adjusting or it can be done with a meter. http://bestdualsportbikes.com/2014-ktm-450-500-excxcf-w-products/700gyrgpy3ylyqt4al81k0ycdfwigm You can adjust the tps higher and see if it improves. If it still doesn't get better with raising tps. Look for fuel starvation. In line filter. Tank filter. Bad fuel pump. Clogged injector.

Have seen the Best dualsport meter, also now a guy selling a little harness to use your own multimeter.

Good news is the Sandhill Cranes are finally moving south, so fingers crossed there!
