KTM 300 / Lectron powerjet adjustment

So I bought a Lectron for my 300 and love it so far except for the top end. Running the 3-3 rod a half turn lean from setting sudjested. Bought the carb used only for a month on a 150XC. So I'm not sure if the powerjet is set up properly for my bike. What is a good starting point setting for the PJ?

I would turn qaurter turns still if feels right or add an egt for perfection... I have one kicking around

You need to pull the plug on pulls without the egt

It was on the rich side which is better than lean. I'll just try turning it a 1/4 and check the plug after a couple long pulls this week.

Correct to the right to restrict fuel... Qaurter turns are good..

I just installed a Lectron on my 2007 300. I ordered it direct from Lectron and they set it up with a 4-2 needle for snow bike use and included a 3-3 for summer use. I only have one ride on my Lectron, so I am no expert, but my bike run absolutely perfect all day yesterday with the 4-2 needle. This was at 7-10,000' and 20-30 degree temps. I don't know where they set the power jet, because I never messed with it. You might want to try the richer needle.

Lectron tuning

what I found fooling with Lectrons the past 20 years or so

if your bike idles clean and a quick twist of the throttle the engine has immediate response....... no little bog or hesitation, then its all good. needle is adjusted....go for Perfect, lean the needle until it has a slight flat spot/bog , richen 1/4 and needle position is set.

snow bike especially, ride gentlely and go big on the power jet, ride and adjust until it absolutely 4 strokes on the top end, then lean it a 1/2 turn and ride carefully. All two strokes present a lean midrange issue which manifests itself in DETONATION and ruined engines. Its hard on a noisy bouncing snow bike to hear that midrange dedto, a good quiet snow packed road with slight uphill is the ideal test place. Hear that little rattle at 1/3 as you play with the throttle in 3 rd gear, go 1/4 turn rich on the power jet.

As you tune the power jet, keep in mind it throws gas from an idle to the top.......just not so much at idle. As you find the " too rich 4 stroke setting" with the powerjet , it will fatten the bottom end, don't go back and lean the needle because your bottom is a little fat, leave that for any final settings. Usually when you find the right safe good looking spark plug top end setting, your original needle setting will be spot on.

The upside to the Lectron is its very tolerant of bad settings and way way less likely to produce lean burndown due to the carb supplying far more finely /thoroughly atomized fuel much like fuel injection. Don't be fooled though by its good running nature, you want to check plugs or pipe temp or piston wash and make sure you are running slightly rich so you don't have a bad day when conditions change a little and you do engine damage just as you climb over that big cornice.

Found out my power jet was turned all the way in. :face-icon-small-dis Hence why I had a bog on top end. No extra fuel was being given to the motor. Luckily Lectrons don't just rely on the PJ for top end fuel. So I turned it out 2 turns. I seems like a good starting point.

Might want to look at a carb heater of some kind. I have a friend that rides that same setup and has his carb freeze up all the time until he put a carb heater on it. You can make one up using the aux ports off the tstat or there are a few guys like avid that make some sweet setups.
