Koso AF mixture gauge wiring?

I'm trying to find the best way to wire in my new Koso AF gauge. I hooked the hot wire on to one of the wires coming off the key. Is this the best hot wire to use? Which one did you use? Were did you hook up the ground?

I have mine run off of the fuel pump wire and the ground to the screw that grounds the coil

What year do you have? On the 07 and newer, there is dummy wire near the steering post that has power and a ground.
