Knots

So I've decided to take up knots as my winter time hobby for sitting around the house. I can do a slip knot and the kind you get from Fing up your shoe laces.

So if anyone sails, etc feel free to get me started with some basic knots to learn or give me a bunch to learn. I got all winter and 100 foot of new rope.

Knots are very fun. I have an encyclopedia of knots, Mind boggling. Try to tie a granny knot with one finger. I can, its a trick. Sheep shanks, Bolines, etc, etc. Very fun. Alot of people think its lame, thats ok their the looser. Boy scouts have amazing info. on life saving knots.

Another thing, is you could join a scout group and not only learn that stuff, but contribute to the scouts.

I know a couple of knots, but I think they are just granny knots..LOL

Learn your figure 8 knots. They are a great knot that is easy to unty no matter how tight you get it. Figure 8, figure 8 follow through, in-line figure 8, single loop figure 8, double loop figure 8, and figure 8 on a bight.

kids are in bed aroud 7 and well I'm good but I'm no wild stallion so I have too have something else to do

goto firefighter.com and look at the training aid section. I'm a volunteer firefighter myself and required to know how to tie several different types of knots under duress.

peat and repeat! Lot's of good info there! Lots of cool knots and means of attaching things together, lashes and the like...... Have fun! Don't forget your hitches! Important stuff..... I use that info all the time!

just learned the basic figure 8 and I like. Now I wanna run it the whole length and then learn some more.
