KMOD suspension

Hey, I'm considering the Kmod full suspension and am wondering if anyone has any experience with the Raptor shocks they offer. I know going from my fox float skid to my buddies HCR coil over skid, my float skid rides a lot plusher. Not sure about these Raptor coil over shocks compared to the floats so any advice/experience would be appreciated.

Any other opinions, over all, about the Kmod suspension would be great also.

Thanks

raptor coilovers

I have the full skid with raptor coilovers on my 2010 m8 and like KlimbingKitty says its the best mod ive done besides boost, i went from the cat HCR 153 to the 162 KMOD and its night and day difference, smooth down trails and keeps the skis down/track on top

KMOD ice age 162" rails, im not sure how long of a track you can go with these rails but my wheels are almost all the way in

I just had my shocks reworked, and added the arm. Made the sled controllable, It looks and feels like I'm out of control sometimes but I just keep going. With the stock skid I would turn in the trees and the nest thing I knew I was climbing one, havent done it yet since the KMOD. I can't get it to stop ratcheting though. I set it to the recommended sag and have tightened it 3 times on the trail, need to get it back in the shop and check it again. In the past I wondered about my skill level holding me back, but with this skid and boost I can honestly say my skill level wasn't the problem, this combo kicks A$$. But I am considering a 162, for my weight a 153 is a little short when everyone else is lighter and riding a 162, I'm only at 6lbs right now so I well add boost first.

Ha ha right on, thanks guys! You just helped me spend more money on my sled lol! What's another $1700 eh. My buddy Brent who is running a BD M8 was telling me he heard good things about this Kmod set up as well. We were out riding over Christmas and my sled was trenchin like crazy and my CPC was getting beat up by his boondocker set up:( I'm seeing around 48-50 mph while climbing in deep snow so I have the track speed, I just can't seem to transfer that power to the snow and hook up. I'm also putting in the 54/66 gear set to drop from the stock 09 57/63 gears I have now and get a few more mph out of that heavy 162 track in the deep.

So all you guys have found better handling over all as well? Not just keeping the skis down, but the handling characteristics while boondocking are improved? Feel like a better balanced sled over all?

Ha, sorry guys, should have named this thread 20 questions about the Kmod.

Thanks again.

If your readin this Brent, I'm comin for some redemption buddy lol :) I might need to invest in a camo extreme too lol!

I was considering it back when hatchers threw his thread on here, cost me a grand. But glad I did. How much boost and what elevation are you seeing 50mph track speed.

I can't get it to stop ratcheting though.

this is also a problem with the timber setup, both the kmod and timber have shocks in the same direction...hang off the rear bumper with your full body weight and notice the center shock tralves twice the distance of a sotck setup

im racketing a tad in slow moving steep climbs, skis in the air and full throttle while climbing is when this skid will show its full track ballon effect, and its amplified with a langer travel center shock, but this longer travel shock is worht a million bucks in any other type of riding, some folks suck up the limiters, but im not gonna do that, ive got 500ish miles and my drives show a little bit or rub but nothing to be alarmed about, its just annoying to feel the vibration...

me and a buddy took several mesurements while i moved my body weight around the sled, hung off the back and jumped on the boards..i was at 160 in the rear and now up to 200lbs in the rear shock...hope to test it in a couple days, i still have maybe 1/2" of track slack, brand new camo X

i know a couple timber guys run both shocks to the max and have zero track slack to get away from racketing

regardless, this skid has allowed so much more control in the trees its now a completly diferent sled and easier to ride setup concrete snow on bigger boost...

Hey Hatch is it really ratcheting? I am assuming you have an anti stab on there. I thought mine was racheting but it was my rail tips hitting the drivers. Took the tips off and no more problems. You just would want to make sure your anti stabs are on real tight:face-icon-small-win just my experiance

It ratchets, I had mine set at 1/2" slack but on the hill seemed to gain a little more so I just keep tightening. It only does it once in a while now, it was horrible to the point I lost speed. Drivers still look good though. Its from the front coming up and the rear staying down. My limiters are set at 12.5" out. Anyone else that has ridden it hasent had the problem, just me. I think its just because my weight and height that I can make it bite really hard. Even my stock skid on my m1000 is about 1" less slack than everyone else and still does it once in a while. My only worry is if I get it to tight and loose performance.

Ha Ha bring it Sammy, glad I could help ya spend a couple grand:face-icon-small-hap was good ridin with ya, didn't get bit by any sharks in Egypt i hope?

i just put my kmod conv on and thought it sure seemed tight with only 1/2"of slack so i loosened it up a bit, i do have a anti stab kit though,
will it still ratchet?
havent ridden it yet.

Got 5 dives and saw a 2 meter long White Tip shark about 15 meters from us though. They are pretty cool creatures. Saw an Eagle ray on the same dive also. The diving in the Red Sea is spectacular but you know your addicted to sledding when you find yourself 20 meters under water, half way around the globe, staring down a Shark, and wondering how the snow conditions are back home and if the shorter gears in the 2010 diamond drive will work better than the taller gears in my 09.....I think I love sledding. Even looking at the Pyramids and wondering what it would be like to climb a pyramid with my sled. JeffK on here is running the 54/66 gear-set and they seem to be working pretty good for him so I'm going to give them a whirl along with the Kmod. I think its one step lower than the stock 2010 if I'm not mistaken, and three lower from the 2009 DD. I am going with the coil overs with this suspension. It was kind of a pain in the butt adjusting the floats in that deep snow on Grizzly that day where it was stuck city for all of the sleds on the Luge hill where Glenn's group met back up with us.

I'll be curious to see the Kmod in action for sure, let me know when your back, glad Egypt was good, and ya I'd say your addicted for sure welcome to the club.

do you need the full suspension for this kit to work? or can you get the relocate brackets? I heard about this kit but don't know much about it.
if someone could enlighten me that would be great. Where can you get this kit?
Thanks

kmodsnowmobileparts.com The website will answer a lot of questions. If you need more info call me. 208-290-4143 Thank You, Budd

I'm back in country February 18th and going to be wrenching on the 19th and then riding the 20th. I should be home until March 13th this time and I'm aiming to get in 15-20 days riding if I can, I'll have nothing better to do LOL!!! I'll let you take the Kmod for a rip if you want. I sent them an email about delivery time for the suspension and hopefully it can be there when I return home.

I didn't want to spend a lot of money when I plan on getting a new sled next year anyway, So I went with the kit you can get for $895 (I think) I just paid it and didn't care. You get the shocks reworked and everything else you need for it to work, ie, brackets, arm, anti-stab, (+$50) everything else you use stock stuff, you can go all out I think for $2500 and you pretty much get a whole skid that bolts under the sled. Not sure though, go to the web site.

If you have boost the $1000 I spent should just be included with the turbo kit because its as much a part of making the sled capable as the turbo is. I went from riding like a crazy man out of control to pulling off stuff you see burandt do in tight trees. Maybe not as smooth or as often, but its a kick in the a$$ when you go from wishing you could to, "HOLY CHIT DID YOU SEE THAT" and then all you can do is think of is finding the next so called impossible challenge, if I can ever get someone to record it I will show you.

I seriously went from looking at stuff thinking it would be cool to try that, or trying and not getting very far, then I got a turbo and thought I want to try it but will prob wind up in the trees and usually did eventually, then I got the KMOD, Now I think. Well that looks cool, I wonder if there is a way out, screw-it I'll figure it out when I get there, and I hit the throttle.

I just sold my 153 track and will be installing the 162 with KMOD rails, anyone need 153 rails.
