Klim Helmets: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Decided that this season it was time to retire my old helmet. It's ripe after a good ride, and a bit scratchy when it's time to put it on for the next. Have been looking at all brands, and so far I'm leaning towards the Klim. I am fishing for your experiences good or bad, and am open to any other brand suggestions. Thanks for any input.

I would also look at the HJC Carbon Fiber Titan. I found one for about 180 bucks earlier in the summer. When they first came out they were close to 400. They came with a really nice bag and are just as light as the klim. Plus the carbon fiber looks really cool. However to you question, my buddy has the klim helmet and he does love it. It is also very light and he also uses it year round.

I don't own one, but there's a bunch of posts saying the fins on the top break off easily when you hit branches and stuff. Everyone seems to like them other than that and the price tag though.

Somebody posted a link to a cheap sale on the F4. I really like how cool it keeps my melon while riding. My only issue was having to get thinner cheek pads. It's an awesome package, came with a really nice helmet bag, 2 liners (summer, and wind blocker, I never use the wind blocker) and a spare visor.

The klim is a really nice helmet, however there are alot of really nice helmets out there.
I had an f4 and sold it, as I was able to make money on the deal and found other helmets that I liked for a fraction of the cost.
Bell moto8 is very similar to the f4 and can be had for well under $200.
I like the HJC spx, but this doesn't fit everybody.

Given my Avatar and your question I thought I should join in.

Love the F4. Keeps the melon nice and cool, something no other helmet I've owned does. I use pull my helmet first thing every time we took a break to let the steam out. Now I find myself leaving it on most of the time.

I bought the Klim F4 for 169 at Atomic Moto on the web, shipping was free and got it in less than a week. Hoping to use it soon but wok keeps getting in the way LOL!!!.

I have the klim helmet and it is decent. It keeps head cooler than most. Some days i'm not sure if that is a good thing. I have had better fitting helmets. Need a size larger than my other hemets. Sticks will catch on air vents. Once in a while it wants to rip your head off. I broke one visor but they come with an extra one. Personally I like the Arai the best but they will cost you more money.

Love my 2010 Klim F4. My head was always a sweaty mess before this helmet. Now I can ride all day without that problem. If I was buying again I would get the 2009 yr model as they cost $200 less than the 2010.

good luck

I hate mine. I bought one right when they came out for over $400 i think, the fins on the top were broke in the first 2 rides, and the fog guard i could never get to work quite right. the nice thing is the bag, but you can also just buy the bag on line separately.

I like mine, so far it's the only helmet that I've ever worn that I don't fog goggles in the first 5 minutes. I've broken the fins off the back, from a good shot via a tree branch, I also broke the trim ring on the chin bar vent.

I think I'm going to try the moto 8 next. I also have an HJC Titan CF helmet that was mentioned earlier. Great helmet but I already wrecked mine from a pretty nasty dirt bike incident so I'm shopping again. I'll be trying the moto 8 and keeping my F4 for snow I think.
