Klim ABS Bags

Rexburg Motor Sport Called Me This Morning & Said To Take This Off The Forum!!!!!!!!!! They Said Klim Called Them And Told Me To Take It Off
Sorry Boys There All Gone !!!!!!!!!!!!!! To Bad Klim Can Dicktate What RMS Can Sell Them For !!!!!!!!!!:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;

The whole story

I felt i should respond to this thread, so that everybody is aware of the whole story. I have met some of the people at klim, and they are a great bunch who are looking to better the powersports indutry. Klim does have some policies about posting gear online. However this is only to protect the customer that is buying klim gear. Anybody that has klim gear will tell you that it is worth every penny you spend.
The abs bags are not made by klim. They are made in germany, and then distributed by klim who has made it possible for everybody in the usa and canada to purchace one. Before klim got involved with abs, they were illegal to ship because the canisters were not dot approved. Klim is the company that made this possible so you can be safe in case of an avalanche.
Rexburg motorsports is a good dealer, but it seems to me that they did not realize they were losing over $100 per bag by selling them at the price they did. It must have been an honest mistake that klim tried to help them out with, so before you throw klim or rexburg motorsports under the bus, i would look at the big picture and understand the whole story. To many times on this forum, only one side is ever told. And this is what has happened in this situation.
For those of you that got an abs pack for this price, that is great, becuase this is way below cost, i wish i could have got one. Bottom line is, this forum is not to throw business' under the bus, it should be to help the industry so the sport doesn't get shut down. So i would encourage all those that like to stir the pot, to realize what you may be doing to your favorite sport. Enough said, best wishes to all, and keep the rubber side down.

With all due respect, here is the REST of the story.

When I first posted this thread, it was just after I came from RMS having just bought one of the ABS packs.

They were quite clear in telling me that they were offering ALL the ABS packs at -30% off MSRP as that was their cost. They were not loosing any money on the deal. Rather they were liquidating left over stock from last winter in the middle of the summer. In my book, a VERY wise business decision. They told me that the packs had been ON-SALE at that price for some time, but no one had really shown any interest. After purchasing mine I told them I would pass on the word to my friends on Snowest and that I was pretty sure I could help them sell ALL of them in short order.

==

Now, after reading the comments on this thread from yesterday, I took the time to go and pay Rexburg Motor Sports a visit this afternoon.

After speaking with multiple employees I got the following story.

Their KLIM Sales rep either read my thread here on Snowest, or was told about it and called RMS. He put some pressure on them to cancel the sale. As they said, their dealership for the Klim line was in jeopardy because of the sale. So they were strongly encouraged to terminate the sale ASAP. Universally, all the employees that spoke to me held that Klim Sales Rep in VERY LOW ESTEEM. he is clearly not well thought of by the staff, regardless of how great their product is (and I am 100% Klim user!)

So while they told me that they were 100% Sold-Out and that the sale was over, they were at the very same moment on the phone with another customer discussing the ABS pack that he was coming in to take delivery of.

Hearing that conversation left me with the clear impression that they had been told to say they were sold-out. Perhaps they really were, I honestly do not know.

All that said, I am a very solid customer of RMS, I spent $30,000 there this month so far.

AND.

And I am solid customer and strong supporter of KLIM, having bought 100% of my Snowmobiling gear from them. Heck, I am a walking KLIM poster boy when I go sledding.

So I am NOT BASHING either company in any way.
Just letting everyone here know the reality of the situation so far as I am able to ascertain it.

Klim has a very aggressive price fixing policy that allows for no Internet discounting, and sales in stores that are authorized dealers on old materials only.

Should I mention that RMS had all of the KLIM Helmets on Sale as well? I bought FOUR of them for $150 each!

I felt i should respond to this thread, so that everybody is aware of the whole story.its worth every penny you spend

but it seems to me that they did not realize they were losing over $100 per bag by selling them at the price they did.

First off Klim knows there gear is worth or at least percieved worth every penny and are extracating every penny of it by price fixing....Good business? yes weather we like it or not.

Secondly, as for them losing 100$ per i doubt that seriously and proof of that is the competition being BCA has a known MSRP of 499 coming out and if this will be reality it supports the fact that they were not losing a 100 per but were just gawd damnnnnn greedy. I am glad they brought it to market, had they not they wouldnt of prompted competition.

Competition is good weather they like it or not.

Thank you for posting this on Snowest and giving some guys some apparently good deals. Its too bad Klim cant settle for a mear 200% markup and keep every body safe and happy.

It's just another portion of our sport that can get away with raping their customers. AND WE COME BACK FOR MORE!!!!

I know everyone justifiies the costs for every product by saying the market is small and the overall demand is low.

BULL$HIT!!!

It amazes me I have bought numerous custom made parts made by Snowesters :beer;these parts were drastically cheaper than some shop trying to pay their whole months salary on two parts. REALLY???? Come on guys!!!!

Is Klim worth the dough??? I don't think so/I'm partial to newcomers to the market, try out new gear. I've had 2 pairs of gloves and 1 jacket falling apart at the seams after 1 season.

Either way, they charge what they want, because we pay!

in defense of Klim (and all other large commercial manufacturers)...

A few years back I owned a SCUBA manufacturing business. I built a full line of diving gear.

One of the things that honestly drove the price of specialty technical gear through the roof was MANUFACTURER'S LIABILITY INSURENCE.

Now, the small guy or little shop is NOT going to buy this. But a large corporation KNOWS they are going to be SUED and they really have no choice but to pony up for this extra insurence.

And this is especially true whenever it comes to LIFE SUPPORT equipment.

While I do not know what percentage of the total wholesale price this represents, I can be sure, there here in the USA, it represents a real portion of the cost.

i have an abs 15. but i hope the bca is a good unit and puts a dent in the klim sales because 900 is outragous price. but i paid it for more safety and a piece of mind.

Isn't your life worth $900????

I love that argument. If you can afford it great but those ABS prices are sick. Bring on the BCA!

Same thing with the Klim tekvest. Pay a lot more for that little "Klim" tag than you do for the one with the "Tekvest" tag on it.

I'm all for safety, and Klim makes good gear, but really... i'm not gonna pay more for the same thing just because it's got a name on it.
