King Cat track tension

I always run atf in the chaincase. I like lube in my chain pins when it's below zero. If you have'nt greased that bearing and have it 4 years you might as well replace it before you walk home! Track hum could be from the bearing, hitting the rail tips, track too tight, too loose, hyfax cut to long and not beveled, hyfax worn and the track nubs are hitting the front croos tube, and (or) the track needs to be adjusted to run in the center of the skid. Easy!
 
Take off our driven (back) clutch and you will see a grease zurk on the top of teh jack shaft bearing. Then witht he clutch off look down to the bottom of the bell pan. You will see where the speedometer cable hooks up. there is a grease zurk there that should be done A LOT ! That bearing is always the first to go. I have replaced 2 in 1100 miles. both were blown apart. Make sure you change you chain case oil every year also. I am running ATF in my chain cases. Lots fo guys do and lots of others run 80-90w gear oil. its just a personal preference thing.

Do I still need to grease the speedo's zurk if I'm not running a speedo? I'm putting in the SLP vent and pulling the speedo. Can I leave the hole open or should I try and find something to cap it off?

I like to keep the pocket full of grease even if the speedo isn't being used. If you pack it tight it will force the grease around the bearing sealing the water out a bit. Otherwise it will get water in there that much easier. Whether or not you run the speedo makes no difference.
