KING CAT JUG PICS

I am to my final hurdle before putting the sled together. I have new pistons, bearings, gasket kit. I cleaned the jugs with muratic acid and honed them to see how bad they were. This is what I found. There is a crack all the way through between the ports. What are the options for this? Anyone know where I can get a refurbished cylinder? The other cylinder needs to be re-plated (too many deep grooves). Wheres the best place to go? Can the crack be welded, machined and replated?

I have been running several with cracks like that for years with no problems. It did make me a little nervous at first. As long as there is nothing for the ring to catch on you should be OK. Millennium can grind out and weld the crack though when they do a replate.

Aren't you worried about chiping the plating and having that metal destroy your motor? I think I'll play it safe and get it fixed. Not something I know enough about to "just run it".

Like I said, I was nervous at first but it is still running. The plating has not chipped. But for your piece of mind it may well be worth it to get it fixed. Millennium does a great job.

That cylinder looks pretty rough, in spite of the crack. Check your head O-rings as you may be overheating due to cylinder compression entering the water jacket. Thats a heat quench crack not a oil squeak. Not sure how new rings are gonna seat in 80 grit.

I've sent the cylinders out for repair, they should be back in my hands this week. i'll finish the rebuild and fire her up next week. I have gone through all other components in the sled in the mean time and feel pretty comfortable about saying the sled will run as good as new. I'll post more pics as the build progress's.

Replating.

Just out of curiosity who did you send the cylinders to ? Sorry bored and just wondering. You can private email if you don't want to spill the beans.

I too consider millennium for quality. You can get done cheaper but these guys do quality over quantity.$400 is cheaper than a new crank. Fast shipping also if you want to ride the same week. IMO If it would of scattered case reeds crank etc. You done good shipping them out.Cheap insurance after all the work you just did.
Booster has a real good point. IMO.

I too have run scuffed up cylinders on a 1107 so have been in the same boat.Think we all have done it before to make a weekend ride.
