King Cat Clutching Setup Comparisons

So...Not to hijack, but what about the 800's? My father has one, 03' 151 800 EFI, all stock except for a PPP can and gutted airbox, should we try an above setup and just backoff on the weights? Running 3-7000 ft.

I agree about using a straight helix mainly because most (nearly all) of Cats multi-angle helix's, the transition is at the midpoint. They do make a 55*-52* that is for the Sno Pro that has a short 55* and works pretty good!!

I have had great results with this helix also.

MMsports, That drop bracket looks awfully thick, How does it work with a slot in it? As for the rear arm, What does the extra length do besides more suspension travel? Smoother riding, More or less weight transfer?

Less weight transfer. I think that I might be the only person on this forum that doesnt like drop brackets. I have tried the mmsports brackets and the sled junkie brackets. Sold both of them on ebay after 2 rides. I think it ruins the weight transfer of the sled and makes it trench a little.

Anybody know how much track speed they actually have, with all of these setups? Anybody use a jackshaft speed senser? I have made some good gains using this info. It is very hard to see 1 or 2 mph on the stock speedo, if you even have one. Most peeps don't. Way too many variables to really compare setups. -00's

05 King Cat carbed

I had the base of cylinders cut .020" Lowers port timing for better low end power. Did nothing to heads, still have about .060" squish. I am running a SLP single with an SLP can. Moved the can so it dumps out shock tower. I am running 67.7 gram primary weights with ti spring. In secondary I am running 53 helix with purple SLP spring in center hole. Am using the factory 19/43 gearing. Am running 380-390 mains in carbs. I am about 1.5 turns out on the fuel screws. and 1.0 turns on air screws. Running with needles in next to the top slot. The only time I change jetting is if the temps drop to 20 degrees below zero, then only raise needles to middle slot. No timing key changes, but am thinking about that.I am still running the attack 20 in hill climb opsition. I like the track. I think for powder it can't be beat. Not to good for coming down hill though. This sled will run with the new 1000,s on flat ground , but does not on big hills. This combo works very well and gets very good gas mileage(better than the new ones do). I run 91 octane pump gas. This sled has never gone down,Never.I change the pistons and rings out every 3000 miles just to be safe.

What year of sled is it? Mine was a solid lower sprocket on the 03.5 900. The replacement Hyvo setup has holes drilled in the lower sprocket, And the chain is 11 links wide but thicker segments and pins. I am sure that is a Cat set-up by the chain link shape. Wish my lower sprocket was that light, But I would worry that it would shear the spokes?

Its an 04 King Cat, with 19/43 x 15 wide.

you have stock cat gears in there. the hyvo is the best way to go 20/46 or 20/45 with a 74p chain, and you will never be left in the cold with a broken chain.

I ordered a hyvo setup but they sent me a 72 chain, is this gonna be too short for my king Cat? The part numbers are 44-4450, 31-01020, 31-01045....

if you did the 20/45 or 46 you will need the 74
if you did 19/43 the 72 will work.

Ride from 0-2000, 05 kingcat efi, cylinders bored to 1010, ported case, D&D twins, higher compression, 4 degree timing key (kingcat has ZR ecu in Norway), 19/40 gearing with 7 tooth drivers, secondary has stock spring (red/white) with 50 degree helix, primary had purple spring(121-240) with 83 gram weights. Felt the rpm was too high (near 8000) so changed to heavy hitters and another spring. Down to 7900 now.
