Kind of wishing I would have ordered an LT Kit

I ordered a new st kit with TSS and am starting to think maybe I should have went with the LT. Mainly because my weight. I am about 240 suited up. do you think I will be ok with the ST or should I try to do some swapping?

I was about 220 with the lt ... In the powder the lt is great but for me in so so conditions the st felt way more nimble... I am hoping the tss upgrade helps that this year... Thats my 2 cents...

Can't your dealer change your order? Worth asking.

I have doubts at times about my choice as well. But it was between sx and st. SX is on order but still question my choice all the time.

What bike are you riding?

And you could lose weight if you wanted, lots of time.

The answer partly depends on what style of rider you will be. If you like cruising the deep and picking doable lines without feeling like you are running an 8 hour moto then the LT is great. If you are aggressive and bouncing your bike off the rev limiter all day, which I don't recommend if you want your bike to last, then the ST will work. I'm 180 and my riding buddy is 240, I ride an LT and he has an ST and after having ridden an ST myself for a season the LT suits me better I would never go back, my buddy rides pretty much the same style as me and I can hand him his *** all day long, he should be on an LT at 240 he struggles to climb when it gets deep. I'd like to try an LT with the TSS and 2.5 track.

I say go with the LT. My next snowbike will be a 146. It sucks the fun out of it when you are stuck, trying to keep up to sleds was a challenge.

15 Husky FC 450. Would be way easier to upgrade the kit than loose weight. I am 6'3" as well so I seem to sit farther back on the bike than a shorter person may.

I think a deciding factor is if it is going to be your only rides and you are going to be using it on those ultra deep days then an lt is really the ticket... If you have a snowmobile also then I would say the st is a better choice.. thats my 2 cents.

The LT is certainly better in the deep, and the ST is better in the spring. If I could afford to have both I would, but since I can't and I hate giving up lines in the deep the LT is the ticket. Add the TSS which should help with most of the LT negatives (rough ride in spring and on trail) and you are golden.

Also, hit the gym for the next 6 months and shed another 20-30lbs. Even for fat sacks of crap like myself (6ft1 250lb, on my way to 220lb) a race 450 with LT gets you everywhere. Or you can add NOS and eat more Bacon Cheeseburgers.

Some really good advice.

Two things to consider.

1- new ST kits with the 2.5" track go significant;y better in deeper snow compared to the 2" track.

2- Riding style, if you have a sled also get an ST. If you only ride when its deep blower powder. Get an LT.

As someone who rides 60+ days a year I can say on average there are less epic deep pow days then 1' or less days. That is why I stick ST (im also 155#, so take it for what its worth) I ride snowbikes because I enjoy how nimble they are. Jumping around, hop turns, etc. I don't ride them because they are deep powder hogs.

This is what I ride them for.

Thanks for your advice guys. Overall I think the LT would have been a better choice but I still have a sled and I am the only guy in the group that is interested in getting into the snowbike thing. I mostly plan on bringing it with out west to change things up so I guess on the ultra deep days witch normally I only get a couple a season I can whip the sled out of the trailer and ride. I am hoping that the rest of my group gets into the snowbike thing. I think it is the future and where it is heading.

if your on a trip west and you get less then stellar snow don't let anyone borrow your bike, you won't get it back!

I absolutely love sledding but when the wind blows or it just hasn't snowed in a while, bikes are seriously off the chain fun. When you roll into cooke on a weekday and it snows 2' overnight I would way rather have a sled. Since you have both I bet you will enjoy your ST more then you can imagine. They are fun because they are so nimble. The LT's definitely go better in the deep but I guess I dont chose a 60hp 120 as my go to when it snows 3'.

I don't think there is an optimal track length for all season. I just picked up a 155 to try out on the deep days. Ideally I would have a 450 LT 155 and a KX500 SX 121 ST, that would be the ultimate combo. Since you have a sled you have the deep days covered.. the ST will rip in the spring time and hard pack days.

This is my 5th season on ST's never had a time where I said wish I had a longer track,,,???? but this year I snow checked an LT,,, not sure why????? but with the new rear scissors' and new track its just got to be good! time will tell, also ordered a new track for my ST, so I will have a good comparison this year!
