Kill Switch

I had found before a Kill switch that was a plug and play and had a little red spring button so you wouldnt acidently kill the sled...i lost the book mark now i cant find it i looked through most of the threads that were on here havent found anything, might have been off of a different fourm not sure though.

I think it was under 10 bucks if that helps thanks!

How about a zip tie around the bottom of the kill switch, so you cannot push it down. It's cheap, it works and it you want it off, cut it and you can always put another one on.

wrap a small rubber band around the bottom of it, if you hit it it pops right back up, but you can still hold it down to kill the sled if you need to.

i still want to be able to turn it off with it rather then pull my tether all the time or turning the key...i always break keys so i hate useing them and the one i found before had the whole cord with it and everything and pluged right in i think it was 5.99...just cant find it.

:face-icon-small-hap I always use a rubber o-ring. Works great and you can still use the kill switch. Cheap and easy.

So... with shipping, you're willing to spend $20+ for something that does the same thing as a 20 cent o-ring???

I have used an O-ring with success, and I have also found that if you are a Harley guy like me, you have a bunch of old used parts laying around. The clutch cable on most older Harleys have a rubber boot that covers the clutch cable adjuster. You can cut off a little peice of that boot and it fits perfectly around and below the kill switch. It has just enough spring in it to make the kill switch a momentary switch... works well.

11,000 dollar sled am not worried about 20 bucks, it should have this style of kill switch to start, the stock one is an accident waiting to happen.

The $20.00 wouldn't be a problem for me either, but after looking at the picture of the one you want to use, and the time and trouble it would take to install it... well, there are MANY other easier quicker, better ways to solve this simple problem.

O-ring works best

O-ring works incredibly well. I have used them on all of my sleds. With the proper size/thickness, there is absolutely no way you can "accidentally" kill your engine. And the price???....cant beat that :)

The stock kill switch works perfect with an o-ring (I can get the size if you need it - does have to be the right thickness to work like your nifty switch). Furthermore the TSS (throttle safety switch) built into the stock throttle block is needed for the computer to work right. To rework all that is a lot more than just throwing that switch on and a waste of time and money.

I throw on a windshield tab keeper from the older style Edge type windshields. Its the rubber gizmo that goes over the windshield tab after it passes through the hood. It is rubber like an o-ring, but square on the OD instead of round. My dealer had a box of 'em and just gave me a few. Been using them for years. EW

Can you post the correct size when you get a chance? I'd like to try this as I've never heard of this before.

id much rather put the RSI switch on too. (did it on my dragon) Nothing like spending $11000 on a sled and then putting a 20 cent o-ring on it and saying u didnt want to spend the 20 bucks to do it right!

Either way I am doing something again! I hit mine at least 3 times at the worst time and got stuck every friggin time. I used the oring method but they cracked and fell off (cheap). I might try using an auto air conditioning oring (green) as they stay plyable when cold and are very durable.

I am assuming Carls Cycle in Boise Idaho (208-853-5550) will sell them, but am not sure on that. Cant imagine they would cost much at all.

Each sled i have purchased from them has had the O-ring already on it. I dont know what they are made of, but on one sled, i have had it on 3 seasons and it looks just as new as the day it was put on, so i have to assume they will not crack and fall off as someone mentioned.

I can also say that i have never accidentally killed the engine by hitting the kill switch....neither has anyone that i have ridden with who has this O-ring installed.

But have witnessed some of my riding buddies (especially on another brand) hit theirs :)

Cheers!
