Anyone on the fence about using a full size bike for their kid.... My son's 10 and dirt bikes a whole lot... That being said we set up a yz250 and a camso .... He was able to ride across asphalt and then ride all day with just the occasional help... Really no more than some full size adults I ride with[emoji23].. so really I would not waste your time just go full size... And a 2 stroke is way light for them... Video below.

Will,

That is my hope with my son. He is 13, but still around 5-3, so full size bikes are still too tall. Going to spend the summer on a Husky TE 150 to get him more comfortable, then I'll put him on my WR with a kit in the snow. Thought about a 120 kit for the TE, but just not sure about the lack of HP. But... the TE is super light, the kid weighs 110 pounds... It could work.

Might have to start looking for a used 250 to make a dedicated snow bike out of.

So my son is 10 and 5 foot. The Camso worked for him because the front ski has 2 skags so it is easier to balance getting on and off... He had no issue starting with a high compression head... Fyi he is on a yz85 racing wise... When you think about it rarely do your feet matter for stopping or saving a fall.... We have a ktm 150 also I thought about using but my the time I added raze bars carb heat yada yada... It was a box of parts I just bout a blown up yz for 1800.... I thought the raze bars were important because you need their hands warm... Lastly I ran the Lectron hv for a carb and put an egt on to tune... Never had to touch it... Worked perfect out of the box running 1100 on the egt all day long ...[emoji16]

My son is 4’ 11” and rides a 450 on snow just fine.
At 6’2” I can’t put a foot down in powder so it’s no different between us.

A full size bike with less power isn’t going to help them learn on snow since even 450’s are lacking in powder.

Now I know my son and myself feels a big difference between my 450 and the 250 2 stroke weight wise
..but I do have a desert tank..
