Kid Helmets???

I've got a question for all of you other parents who have young kids that want to go along on the trail rides. I have a 2-1/2 and 4 year old that will be heading out for their first family rides this year, and I am wondering what is the best way to go as far as helmets. Should we go with a MX style helmet or go with a regular bicycle style helmet. I know that the MX style helmet will provide better protection, but I am worried about the extra weight on their neck if the trail is bumpy (which they usually are). Any sugguestions would be appreciated...

I have a 4 yr old that uses a small full-face helmet to ride. Fits her well. For a smaller child I don't know what I would go with. I'm not a fan of bicycle helmets at all as they don't provide any kind of real protection if you are moving more than 5 mph. Sorry I'm not very helpfull..

My kids have been wearing helmets since they were 2, it's the safest way.

I have a Fly YS I'm selling right now for $60 brand new! PM if you are interested.

where is a good place close to seattle to get kids helmets? anyone?

i will be getting one for my 3yr old this season..

how can you tell it fits them well? should it be super snug? defenitely going the MX route

So we decided we are going with MX style helmets...now the question is where is the best place to try to find on...and at a decent price. Would like to be able to try them on before buying. Any suggestions???

Kids Helmets???

What we used for our son until he was three was a good snowboard helmet, seemed to fit better than a full face helmet until four, then a full face. What also helped is a neck donut, even a towel rolled up, or foam pipe insulation below the helmet against the shoulders helps with the weight and reduces head bobble. A harness that you can strap them to you with helps keep them with you and allows you to ride more freely.

Go to the snow show this weekend, hundreds of different helmets they can try on.
