So I was out in the garage this morning doing what I do. Have the 800 Dragon tore down and was doing a little polishing while I had the mono block off. You know, just trying to make the most of a disassembled motor. :D
My dogs wandered in for some attention so I took a little break. As I turned around to get back to work. KERTHUNK......TINK  I'm pretty sure I held that face for a solid minute as tears started to form from my dismay of seeing the lower skirt missing from my mono block as it lay crippled on my garage floor. :(
Not one inappropriate word came from my mouth. Knowing they wouldn't do any good anyway (I must be getting old), I just quietly went inside and proceeded to call Greg at Four Seasons Sports Center in Rapid City, SD. I explained my plight and he found a new one on the shelf. I won't tell you the nice deal he gave me without my asking, but it did shorten my season by a trip none the less. His kindheartedness helped return a smile to my face. Hey, can't ride it without a new one right ;)
Not the worst day ever, but not the best either. I guess I'm just thankful I can get a new one. There are always others less fortunate. Although this didn't make my day very cheerful it did make me remember that last season was much much worse and I am thankful everyday. Keep your head up and remember all the things you are thankful for this holiday season.
Hope everyone's day is going better than mine.
Cheers to all of you.
:beer; :)

I'm sorry to hear that happened, its never any fun when stuff like that happens. Best thing to do when stuff like that happens is to put all the tools down, walk in the house and not return to the garage until the next day. We've all been there. How many trips do you have planned this winter?

My recent bad day - getting laid off at the beginning of November. We had an early morning meeting (company wide) at 8:30am and by 9am we were laid off (135 of us). Not a good time to be laid off....well anytime of the year is a bad time!

My point exactly. I can't be too upset when you were laid off. That is much worse. :(
I don't have anything set in stone yet for trips. I was hoping to get out 3-4 times to different places. Last year I only went once and was hoping to have a better season this year. Not off to a good start thought. LOL

I was measuring up the back of my truck to make myself some kickass rock guards and left my 4 foot level on the back bumper. I drove out of my driveway, down the road and onto the highway where the level finally fell off. I didn't realize it until it was too late. It got run over by a semi and is now in a billion peices :(

So are you saying it won't buff out and you might need a new bubble? :D

Yes. I'm packing it in for the night. Just had a minor incident with the bandsaw :(

Monte sorry to hear about your mishap today. I thought I was having a bad day while I was pissing and moning about how cold it was and not a trace of snow.
Did you have Greg take the mono block to Ricks before he shipped it off?lol
Thats the nice thing about Greg he has always been there for me when I needed to spend money.lol
Hope you have a better day tomorrow. Later Paul

That Sucks! My last rebuild didn't work out so well either. The pistons were scored enough that we didn't notice that the exhaust valves had actually been hitting the pistons. So, brand new pistons got whacked on the edges.

Monte, sometimes those just things can't be avoided....unless they are laying in a spot where gravity CAN'T bite. LOL :)

i dont pray for myself very often ,but when I do, it is generally "God, please protect me from the logical consequences of my actions"

I definately relate to your pain fullmonte. Been there, done that, wrote the check.

That's where I always screw up. After I throw the tool or kick something I still think I should keep working. Need to learn from you guys and head in for a beer.

That sucks about your job Jonce. Is it short term or indefinite deal? Either way I'll buy ya a beer at Banns sometime.

I'm seriously considering laying some carpet in front of my work bench. We must learn from out mistakes, right?
