I'm just about finished my Apex,it's a 310 MCX.
To finish I just have to buy a new track(174"CE) and have too figure out what skid to go with.
But I have two windshields,a chrome and a black one.I can't decide which one to use,I am leaning towards the chrome, but a buddy who has been helping me says"go with black".

What do you all think?

And any advice on a affordable solution for a skid would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nice sled Dave! Keep the chrome for a spare you will need it one day:face-icon-small-win, the black looks way better. If the funds are there go with a m10 you will be happy for both climbing and boondocking.

Black for Sure. As for a skid, I purchased the KMOD Gen 2 at the end of the season. It worked great, can't wait to really get some use out of it. Very reasonable to keep the skis down and rides nice.

And Kevin was awesome to deal with.

If I had the choice again I would probably pick the m10 esp that hp. Windshield is just for bling and in 10 ft of pow only thing we will see is the grin from ear to ear. Personally I prefer no windshield.....one less thing to break.

Gratz

maybe give macs machine a call and check what a true M10 174 is worth , it doesnt have the weak live axle the old 162s had . may be worth a look and ive had great service from them .

M10/Baker 10

You cant go wrong with the Racers Edge skid, bolts into stock location, works just as well too. The Racers Edge can easily be upgraded from 162 to 174 without re-mounting. Can be run with stock parts as well.

Cant go wrong with Trevor at Macs either. Only two guys I'd deal with for suspension. IMO save the $$ for one of these.

P.S. Run the black one until you smash it off, then put the Chrome one on. ;)

I would look at Racers Edge. You could use just the rear arm or full out and do both arms, shocks, rails, etc. It is a coupled skid that is strong and works like an M-10. I like my M-10, but my next sled will have the complete RE skid.
My kid has beat the hell out of it for two seasons and it still looks like new. Be careful with the really lightweight skids, they can't take the abuse that a Yamaha puts them through. :face-icon-small-hap

I had a full 174 Racer edge skid installed in my turbo apex last year (a couple time , haha ) i think Darrell is very busy , had to wait a long time to get it , but the service from Darrell has be tops ( had to have the rear shock revalved and springs changed )
Love the skid , rides good , controls ski lift , easy tuning .

Seriously?? Am I the only one who likes the chrome windshield better? Could be the design of the black one I dont like. As far as skid goes, I've used the Fast-50 M-10 on my Apex 162 and Cr M-10 174 on my Nytro, I think you'll be happy with whatever skid you use other than stock if your going for a 174, absorbs the bumps substantially better. Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice,I will be getting a hold of Racers Edge and ordering a skid and clearly the black windshield will be going on the sled first.

Thanks again,I can hardly wait for the snow, less ninety days...:face-icon-small-hap

You wont regret the Racers Edge skid, might as well buy the right one the first time. Better order now though. :faint2:

How much is the racers edge skid and what do you get??

I think the full suspension with 174 Ice Age Rails/arms/shocks/axle/wheels, etc is approx $4000.00 installed. A couple pics.
