Just a thought

I'm not a cat guy...yet, but I was looking at some pics that you turbo boys have posted and a thought/idea occurred to me. Would it be possible to take the pipe on an M and flip it over so that the bend in the pipe was over where the can would be? And then mount your turbo in sort of a mid-mount setup? I'm sure that it would take a lot of thought and fab work to accomplish but with the turbo being so close to the charge box I would think that there would be little to no lag. You could also plumb the exhaust to exit out the stock location too. I'm not sure of the feasibility just thought that it might be a decent discussion topic. Lets here what you have to think! :beer;

The expansion chamber wouldn't be able to do its job. You couldn't scavenge with a turbo in front of the pipe. I could see this location working on a 4 stroke, but not on a 2.

RMK4LIFE there is a setup close to what I believe you described look at silberturbos.com. This kit has a center mounted turbo I have been wondering if this might be the kit to get?

aah, I may have misunderstood.
I thought he meant putting the turbo in between the Y & pipe.

I'd really like to ride one of silber's sleds, $3500 is a pretty easy price to swallow.

Yeah I was talking about rotating the pipe 180 degrees. Kind of like what shain at twisted turbos did with the mid mount poo that hes been working on. I would think that with the laydown style of the m motor there would be room for the turbo and would keep the keep the weight more in the center of the sled instead of being hung off to the side.

the weight doesnt make as big of a difference as a short charge tube, it balances out with the clutching on the other side. You would have to build a completely different pipe because of the shape of the existing one and the builders have this one already dialed in so its not worth it.

Well if I had I would let him but I don't. I was just looking at a few pics and had a thought is all. Figured it could be more of a discussion than anything else.
