John Daly still at it...

What a waste. All the talent in the world and he drank it away. Poor guy :(

Define "Waste" - Seriously, he is good but not the talent of a Tiger or Phil. He has alot more money from endorsements and commercials because of his lifestyle than he would have had solely on talent. How many other names can you remember with a win at the US Open more than 13 years ago?
That might not sound quite like what I mean but I guess what I am trying to say is that he is successful doing his own thing and enjoys life - who are we to cast judgement?

Definitely not more talented than Tiger but there's an argument to be made that Daly had the same "up-side" as every other golfer before he started hitting the sauce hardcore.

Obviously we'll never know but you can't say that John reached his potential on the PGA. Without question he's wasted his career away...

I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago and the PGA just happen to be there. My flight left late Thursday so I checked out the tee times and seen Big John was teeing off at 709 Thursday. I got there at 615am, went to the range, no John.

At 640 (29 min before his tee time) he walks on the range smoking a cig. He stands there for a few minutes, chatting and finishing up his smoke. I sh!t you not, he hit MAYBE 30 balls, walks over to the putting green, chats some more and smokes another cig. Putted about 10 times and headed for #10 (started on the back).

I walked the back 9 with that group. He was 2 under after 3 and finished +1 Thursday (missed the cut Friday). He smoked on every hole. On 16 (par 5) the other 2 in his group and all 3 caddies are on the green while Big John is lagging behind about 50 yards.

No doubt he got fukced up the night before.

Moral of the story? He's my kind of hacker...er...I mean...golfer.:D

I hear ya Larry. Reminds me of a couple tourneys I've been in....

Just because he's a pro golfer doesn't mean that he can't screw up like the rest of us. He's a good ol' boy who likes his smokes and liquor. Hand 95 percent of the guys here 5 or 10 million dollars and a bunch of spare time and see how many of them show up for "work" the next morning. His talent isn't wasted. He was one of the first long ball hitters and he's made a name for himself in a game where 1/2 of 1 percent of the best golfers on the planet make the dream dollars. I'd hang our with John Daly over Phil Mickelson anytime.

Just to add to this, I think a lot of people are jealous of a guy who can possibly make more money in one weekend of whacking a little white ball around, than 95% of people could in 10 years. He just chooses to do it a little differently. ;)

He didn't win the US Open. Just sayin'. He won the PGA Championship and THE OPEN Championship. So what on what he does on his off time. Lack of talent---right. He can still beat the A$$ of most of us on here--golfing that is.
