It's time to play up North again eh!!

US dollar surging against the Canadian dollar...... Now at 1.249...... Can't wait to go play up there again.

Geez what a kick in nuts for us!Wow a couple months ago we were at par!Well maybe at least will see more product moving South. It's both good and bad.

Funny this came up, a friend of mine and I are arguing about this right now, alright snowesters, help me win this argument. He is telling me that I am reading these things wrong and that the Canda dollar is stronger than American. I went to yahoo's currency exchange site and if you type in 1 dollar American and it gives you 1.25 in Canadian, this is right correct? He went to the bank cause he is going up there this weekend and wanted some Canadian cash, he wanted $40 and it came to $46 American, this happened yesterday. Is the bank screwed up? Or are they charging some sort of fee to convert it? Help!?

(Sorry if I hijacked)

your right, I just bought a ton of US dollars, ouch.... so the bank must have screwed up somewhere with him because the US dollar has been gaining ground on all world currency, not just CDN, in the long run this is good for Canadians believe it or not

Your friend is a dope just like most Americans, $100 us will get you $125 Canadian.
$100 Canadian gets you $78 US dollars.

The whole US dollar trade will eventually collapse and go the other way, the greatest unwind is going on in everything rigjt now, gold, oil, copper, stocks, forex trading (currency) large amounts of everything is being sold into US denominated currency to pay of bills from traders all over the world.
Once the sh*t settles the US dollar will be dropped like a hot potatoe.

This won't happen for many years...... Until the next cycle.

That's the problem right there, this is not cyclical.
This is a once in a lifetime all out financial nuclear bomb, we can see the mushroom cloud right now but when the shockwaves hit we will be in deep sh*t.
I am not a tin foil hat guy but the unwind right now in everything is scary, once all the debts are settled between counterparties you will see the US dollar drop like never before. I give it 3 months tops.

Alot of banks do charge a fee to convert it, can be either a pain to get or a pain to get rid of!

he wanted $40 and it came to $46 American,

WTF is gonna do with that? Our fuel is still over $4 USD to a US gallon..tell him to turn around once he clears customs:p A box of Canadian is 30 bux as well:beer;:beer;

Thanks for the input guys, it seems the bank teller had it screwed up. I was pretty sure I was right, I just needed to prove it.

Are you sure you understand currency exchanges??? In three months it will still be trading in the 1.20 range.

The Canadian dollar rise and fall is COMPLETELY tied to the price of oil. Take a look at when it went up (oil was skyrocketing) and the drop in the last 2 months (oil dropping like a stone).

Depending on who you talk to, the Canadian dollar belongs in the .85 cent US range to keep our exporters competitive.

So we can't go down and buy vehicles or toys for a song anymore, suck it up and quit crying. It's much better for our economy and that's the true important thing right now.
