It's Supposedly True....417 lbs and Belt Drive....

i don't want the heated boards. imo, they just end up causing more ice collection and is one more thing that i would break causing me to be towed out... plus i would have to figure out a reroute so i could put on airframes b/c i "guarantee" they stock boards won't be as good as the a-frames.

That is just a "hope"...

I've never had "more icing" caused by running board edge coolers???

If they did do this (which is less likely than staying the same way)... the aftermarket would (like SPG) would make them so they would plumb in.

Pura, You've had a sled of yours that had a failure because of the running board edge coolers?

I've had a 900-rmk with better boards, tunnel side vinyl and edge coolers... least amount of snow/ice build up on any sled that I've owned.

I agree with you though... on the old style running boards, with NO snow/ice evacuation holes... on cold days, the boards will ice up because there was no place for the melted snow to go and it would pool up in the running board trough.

It will be interesting to see what ACTUALLY comes out... there are a few of the 13's out there already running around.

no, i actually haven't had any failures do to coolant in the running boards. but i have bent my running boards before with a sled that didn't have the coolant in the boards. i think that would have caused a tow out if it had the coolant running through the boards. but i honestly think that would be a pretty minor issue and something i wouldn't worry about it. maybe icing wasn't the right word. to me it just seemed to make it slushy and harder to kick off. again, pretty minor. especially since having the airframes i won't ride another sled without them (or something similar).

i hate heated running boards. ICE ICE ICE. When you ride DEEP snow, it nearlly alwasy ends up freezing to the boards. No thanks. I'll take a black tunnel though w/ some super trick anti-friction materials that snow doesn't stick too :)

MR Quick... Have you had heated running boards with better boards etc on them?

What I'll take is a good strong tunnel... with good snow shedding abilities to them!

Like I said to Pura Above..

When the same sled got a pair of black better boards that pooling and Ice probem went away ... and there was NEVER any snow/ice stuck to the running board edges when the sled was running... This is why the Fabcraft and VanAmburg modern tunnels work so well at shedding ice.

Also, IMO... the cooling system would be a bit lighter but just as effective since you would be cutting out a long length of the tunnel cooler under the seat area.

AGAIN...This is just "FUN" discussion...Polaris already has this design finalized... we will see what happens soon.

But how many RPMs will it hold?

I applaude your effort in helping me bring an awareness to the SnoWest Community of the often misused initials for Revolutions Per Minute where people incorrectly add an s to the end and how you cleverly disguised your help in the form of a question. 1 Thanks for you!!!

my buddy melted the soles of his boots with the heated boards. no thanks.

That's crazy. I've never seen mine hot enough that I on a gravel road. hold my hand on it. Ever. Not even when I overheated.

It would have be 200deg too melt boot rubber.

the only reason to have running board edges with water in them is because the pros are in desperate need for more cooling. They do ice up your running boards. On deep days they slush the snow and they are more prone to icing up. I had a fabcraft tunnel and it was great except on the deep days. It would also freeze down, in deep snow, if it sat for a few minutes. If the boards were like airframes it would be alright but if they were like airframes you wouldn't need it. If it would get the heat exchangers off the side of the tunnel I would take it. Icing up the sides of the tunnel, because of heat exchangers down outside edge of tunnel, is the same thing heated edges is going to do to your boards.

I think to melt boot rubber it has to be in the 220-250F range.

Kinda like when people talk about their HOLTZ a-arms etc... Man that bugs me :face-icon-small-con

Got to see some grainy cell phone pics awhile ago. From the outside looks like different boards a shorter seat similar to a WRP. And something goen on up front like maybe a quick dissconnect swaybar but couldnt realy tell from the 3 pictures that i got to see.
Think Polaris will be pretty tight liped about this sled as long as they can. Especialy if its that much better then the 12. With the snow the way it is dealers are sitting on alot of 12s and to drop the 13 to early is goen to tank sales. But hay big rebates in the fall for left over 12s.

:director:I spoke with our local salesman for Polaris and confirmed the rumors. 417 lbs, belt drive, different running boards with the seam at foot level instead of the top of the tunnel, and some carbon fiber parts, too. I asked if his info was from Polaris, he confirmed. No pricing till March. Just reporting what I was told from our local sales guy who has been selling sleds at the same dealer for around 30 years. :director:

This is as close as I ever came to engaging to internet rumor. I guess our local dealer was pretty darned close, eh?

Spot on; FWIW I never doubted you from the beginning. In fact some others had seen the sled and reported similar last month (and also got slammed here). Don't listen to the "naysayers" and keep posting!

Cheers!
