Tension makes the bolt self-locking
The key is the difference in angles. Since the cam angle " α " is larger than the thread pitch " β ", the pair of washers expand more than the corresponding pitch of the thread. NORD-LOCK washers positively lock the fastener in a joint which is subjected to extreme vibration or dynamic loads.

Do the Nord lock washers that you have fit tight on the bolt like the stock washers did, or are they loose on the bolt?
The ones I have seen are loose on the bolt, information on them also said they were for 1/4 bolts, which makes them loose for the stock Ski Doo bolts.

The ones I got were 6m/m. They fit the bolts good and seem to work real well!
