This is awesome, thanks @christopher! Any thoughts on what you might recommend for mostly on-trail riding in the Island Park / West Yellowstone over the next 4-5 days? Will be coming from Minnesota since our season is, once again, toast. Just curious about easy places to stay to get at the areas we should ride. Much appreciated!

You can pretty much get anywhere from any place via trail. Two Top is probably my favorite "scenic" trail, best on a clear day and equally accessible from West or IP. Plenty of other trails around both towns, can't really go wrong no matter where you stay.

I'd say West has more of a night life than IP though, if that's your thing. It's kind of the off season now so it might be pretty dead.

As of this week, West is "officially closed" though.
Much of the town is now on vacation.

If you come to visit West Yellowstone, Montana at this time, remember you are visiting a seasonal town during the off-season.

The west entrance of Yellowstone National Park is inaccessible at this time. Lodging, dining, and shopping opportunities in town are limited. Attractions and activities might not be available.

The snowmobile and cross-country skiing seasons continue while there is snow on the ground. There are scenic drives, outside of Yellowstone, that you can explore.

Please understand that off-season means that West Yellowstone is very different than other time of the year and you should set your expectations as such.

Todays ride through Thirsty Creek was TERRIFIC.
But the parking lot was a LAKE by the time we got back this evening.
