Is this true?

A friend of mine has an 11 Pro. Last time out it started running rough. The dealer replaced the TPS - seemed to run fine on the stand but at low rpm the check engine light was on (went off above idle). Took the sled out again and still didn't run right. Back to the shop - now they're replacing the entire wiring harness. The bill is pushing $1100.00, is this typically the cost or is my buddy getting hosed?

Questions?

  1. Is this at a Polaris Dealer?
  2. Is this in the US or Canada?
  3. How about a breakdown of parts and labor?
  4. Is this more than 1 harness?

It is a "Powersports dealer" that sells Polaris among other brands. They are in Colorado. Aparently its the entire harness (whatever that means). Parts were around $350 and the rest was labor. That's all the info I got from my buddy - he's not very mechanically inclined.

for that price i would half expect ALL of the wiring under the hood being replaced.
750 bux for labour.... up here in northern Alberta shop rate is ~150 / hr... no question that i've become a better polaris mechanic because of it!

...but thats my 0.02...

Just picked up one of my buddies sleds from our local dealer in saskatchewan. His sled has a turbo on it. His bill was $450. He got the TPS harness replaced. He also got a set of carbides and a new brake lever. The labor charge was 2 hours @$90/hr. thought that was pretty reasonable.
