Is this a 1/2 ton sled deck?

Is this a 1/2 ton 5.5' box with a sled deck? Kind of looks like it, maybe a 6.5 box but it sure does look 1/2 ton.

smart idea hes has with his windshield wipers. He puts them up so that they aren't frozen to the windshield in the morning.

It's been there for a few days. The first time I seen it I thought I had to be seeing things because a lot of the threads say you can't do it. Seems someone is doing it.

Bolt on a couple air bags and it will handle it fine.

agreed, i dont know why everyone thinks that you cant haul nothing in a 1/2 ton. ya the susp. is a bit soft now days but back in the day thats all you needed for most jobs.

The box is the same on 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck. It just happens to be a shortbed rather than the 8 ft longbed. That sled deck is a tad long but I put way more weight in the back of a 1/2 ton truck than the 1200lbs it would be holding. It may be a little shifty around corners though.
I have a short bed 3/4 ton crew cab and it would stick out also but who cares.
Thanks for listening,
Mutt

Noone said it can't be done. Its the fact that it is not legal, particularly safe, and if anything ever happend, and you were in the ballpark of 500-1000 pounds over the GVW, insurance, the cop/DOT is going to take a large dump on your head in most cases. Ive overloaded a half ton truck doing firewook, and other various things, but wouldnt do it with a couple 10...20 grand sleds, for any extended distances thats for sure.

I was just thinking. This guy that parked it there probably has been reading all the treads on this subject and sayed WTF, I'm going to park it right there and let the debate begin?

I bet he's thinkin... GOD I LOVE SLEDDING!!! Good ol snowest probably never even crossed his mind as he was backing the sleds down the ramp, giving that little halfton a rest :)

I do it and it works fine. I agree you don't need a kenworth to haul sleds
