Is there a factory tether hookup?

ok, I need help here. I have done this before on a 13 and it was simple.
First off I am using the Polaris tether kit 2874379.
The plug in the pouch by the steering column has one spare plug. Two pin female with 4 wires running into it.
My tether kit has a 2 pin male, 2 wires. These two connectors don't mate. They "look" like they should but there's no way they make a good connection.
WTF am I missing? Am I using the right plug?
Even the kit comes with a spare plastic male but its the same as the one already on the end of the tether
Forgot, this is on a 2015 rmk 800
Edit........first I had to take a break. The install was simple except for this silly connection. The extra empty plastic piece fit perfectly with underhood connector. So took the connector from the tether apart, didn't find anything wrong. Reassembled, wiggled and jiggled and finally got the two to go together. What a PITA. Anyways all hooked up now and functions like it should.
