? is the slp pipe really good? or not

alot of people on here are running a stock sled then they throw on a slp pipe and clutch kit and there thinking the pipe made a huge improvement well how much of that is the clutching since stock clutching sucks so what are you feeling to pipe or clutching also how rich are our sled running from the factory? yeah there rich but just barely rich. people put a pipe on and there having to lean the sled out after they put a slp pipe on. the more hp you make the more fuel you have to burn, so with our sleds being slightly rich from the factory the pipe should make it damn close to being a perfect a/f mixture or at least make a better a/f ratio

iam just curious i just dont think there an actual gain from the pipe ive had the pipe on my sled and sold it and now running twins makeing a ton more power had to richen it up a little on the bottom and a ton in the mid and top end

SLP pipe and can on mine, with clutch kit didn't work so well the first time until I put the airbox kit on and then it woke up. My 600 will easily outpull my brothers 700 on the bottom/mid. Noticable difference.

There is a little more to the a/f mixture than to say the stock sled is lean and a pipe that requires more fuel will even that out. The stock mapping is lean in the midrange, not all over. There are different a/f mixures at different RPM's and throttle positions. I'm waiting for my upgrade to see where I sit with my mapping. I have a PCV ordered with the autotune, so we will see how that does.

As for the SLP pipe (I assume you mean singular and not twins)...I know some people claim that get something out of it, but most have told me that you just save weight and get a shinny pipe to go with it.

just adding a pipe may not get you much. IMO, if you are spending the money for a pipe, you should look at jetting, clutching, and air intake. The entire package should work well with most Polaris sleds. I have had good luck when I matched everything.

If you think of your engine as an air pump, then it doesn't make much sense in increasing one aspect if a bottleneck exists elsewhere.

i was running a single i really didnt notice a thing i was running my own setup for clutching cant remember what it was i mean it worked fine but i sure didnt notice a thing on my d7 so i got rid of it and put slp race twins on

when my sled was stock it fouled plugs left and right i even posted about it, i took the intake baffles out leaned it out and woke it up some more crisp throttle response ect. yeah everybody knows they have a lean mid spot, but polaris wont ever release a slep with spot on mapping due to to many varibles from location to location so yes they do run rich from the factory to cover there ***. its been known for years that makeing hp requires more fuel unless your running rich well thats a given thats why anytime in therory you should add more fuel adding a pipe or changing the intake side to a free'er flowing version unless your alread rich you should be adding fuel unless you were suckerd into beleiveing you were adding hp granted slp did a good job of retaining stock hp in return makeing a lighter sled. you cant make more hp with less fuel

If you want to know what it does to the d7 go to dynotech research. They 3rd party dyno all makes and models stock, and with mods. According to there dyno the slp pipe and can are good for about 6 hp. But he tests all sorts of combos, pretty good read.

SLP pipe, can, airhorn and V-3 made a HUGE difference on mine. Carl's clutched before bolt-ons also.

i read it it was excited to try out my single and ended up unhappy.

they dont sell slp twins for the 700 to the public only to rmsha racers ect

you could own a set yourself as there for sale going turbo:D

Its too bad most people haven't had a chance to see a full mod 700cfi, they rip! Got to love 8600 rpm. I miss my twins 440dart, but i'm going turbo. I thought I had them sold for you, they don't work in Alaska anyways.:beer;

yeah looks like iam running them for half the year still not bad i love them but iam sure its nothing like a turbo sled, maybe twin pipe turbo:D

i have a MBRP can on mine and it works awesome. a buddy has a slp pipe and can and the only difference he noticed was at the top end.no difference until then and the difference wasn't huge either.

I bought the SLP Pipe and can combo for my D8 along with the SLP air horn and intake kit.
I've really only heard good things about them, that's why I bought it.
It's like putting headers and a CAI on a car.

Doesn't really require a tune, but my buddy owns a shop with a sled dyno. Once I run a couple tanks of gas threw my sled, I'll be taking it there to see what my sled is doing.

It really comes down to what you want....sometimes the gains aren't that great, like just adding a single pipe to a stock can. Not a huge gain for 300 bucks...
Is 6 hp a large enough gain???? It wouldn't be for me, I'd spend my money on suspension. Double digit gain...then I would buy.
Look at the M1000...pipe, can, clutch work and a control box and they gained about 25 hp. I'd spend money for that....

yeah a m-1000 is a different animal i had a slp pipe on my sled i didnt noticed anything other then a little noise iam also turning a 174 so and power to be gained iam going to feel it. i also gutted my airbox people read that it dosnt work if that was true there is nothing to be gained there it should of went rich but when i took the baffles out it went lean had to adjust with my fuel box. iam not doing this by the seat of my pants i check plugs and wash. to make more hp you have to have more air i had a slp pipe to my sled and i have to lean out the bottom and mid range and leave the top end alone thats a waste of money to me. i posted this to see if i was looking at this wrong for somebody to correct me, iam just saying these are my own personal exsperience that i didnt have a gain with the slp single. just you see all the hype about the slp, and most people are running stock clutching then they throw the pipe on and new clutching and post about how good it is but really are they feeling the pipe or the clutching:D as for the m-1000 when you bolt on 25hp your sure as hell going to feel 25hp
